    Oblivion

Is there REALLY a need for THIS much detail?

Now how much better would it be if a regular cow was just standing there in a regular game? ;-)

That is disgusting though, but not that bad; I've seen worse in real life. Some people like that "extra hardcore gore" detail...

Yes..... it needs that much detail only for it to be close to the real world but without the stench... But by looking at that picture, you need a better videocard... or just up your settings.

I'm sure if toubabokoomi ups the settings any more, then the framerate would even be lower than 16.

I work with a research lab that is actually playing around with a commercially viable olfactory (scent) producing device that is worn around the neck. One day, maybe you WILL be able to enjoy the scent of a horse... :icon_bigg

Now what would be really awesome is if you could use the horse as a sort of infinite, extradimensional storage locker. Just shove that gold and the extra suit of armor in there, and voila! It disappears, ready to re-emerge when you need it most. And in a nod to the creepy storage cases in the Resident Evil series, you can access your stored items from ANY horse in the game. Of course, NPCs could possibly become hostile if they catch you elbow-deep in their favorite steed looking for your +2 Sword Of Hurty Pain. And "Oh, don't worry, I'll be done in a second--my horse died, see..." will most likely NOT be a usable excuse.

It IS possible--and conceivable--that people may actually not have top-of-the-line hardware or a game's setting at max for a reason. Like, they couldn't afford to blow $500 out their ass for a video card to replace the perfectly good (albeit of slightly smaller memory capacity) one they already have. Or maybe the settings aren't cranked all the way to ten because he's got a slightly older processor but doesn't want--or again, can't afford--to upgrade to the new Pentium MCMXVII with 1.21 gigabytes of RAM.

I'm not sure what's more irritating, the "OMG your settings suck buy a new card" attitude that makes the ordeal seem as simple and cheap as buying a bag of potato chips from 7-11, or the fact that those graphics look pretty damn good on their own. Either way, I certainly don't see any room for improvement.

You can just press print screen, it will copy the image to your clipboard and you can paste it in paint, otherwise, as toubabokoomi did, you can use fraps, a pc game recording/image capturing tool, there's a free version so I'de recommend that. Nice frame rate btw toubabokoomi.

Look up Fraps Paulo. Just get the free version if you plan on taking screenshots. It saves them to bitmap format, which really doesn't matter because you can always convert them to jpg or png (and not lose quality at that format), etc.

GSL, please don't take my remark as if I said it like this: "OMG your settings suck buy a new card". I never intended it, nor implied it to be read that way.

For those who have Oblivion. Do not turn on self shadowing for the grass. That option just kills every videocard you have, even if you own the 7900GTX nVidia. It slows the game down quite a bit. Oblivion/Morrowind are games, IMO, that are supposed to be played with as much detail as possible to get the full effect of the game and be imersed in the gameplay.

I got it for 360. The detail in making creating your charcter alone is too much. The way things are going I'll get to the horse anus some time early 2009.

I need to know, too. I'm running out since I haven't looted any corpses lately. There's an actual "screenshot" function, but you have to edit the configuration files - check GameFAQs and see if that works.

The game is gorgeous running with all options at full, but honestly I'd rather just play the game at a decent speed.
