    crazy 80s iszuzu ad

i can not belive ads like this were possible back then, the stunts are crazy. Does anyone know if this was a big commercial spot for iszuzu in japan in the 80s?

Damn, that must of took forever to choreograph, some of that had to of been done with special equipment though, last time I checked you can't just drive with the rear of the car 10 feet in the air.

That's quite astounding, though some of the parts look fake... like when they're jumping on the bridge and seem to float back to ground.

Also, those shots of tricks through the streets populated by cars and pedestrians... those can't have been really shot like that?!? Filmmakers can't endanger the lives of the public. So, wow.

Actually those look like all closed shots, and with movies like the blues brothers they use extras that are stunt people, which have the ability to dodge from danger easily. Im shocked that this comerical was never mentioned as historic, since it must of cost quite a bit to make. Though im guessing its due to it being a japanese one.

They probably took out all the seats, etc. for them to do some of those stunts. I like the BGM. But that car came DOHC standard, so it had something good. Gonna see if I can find that type for sale here...

easy. the floor is wet. The two outer car are linked to the two inner cars. the outer cars are the ones driving while the two inner cars are just spinning on the wet stone floor.

Very impressive adds they are ! You can still see the Isuzu Gemini on the streets from time to time.

Similar stuff here, somewhat less exciting but equally technically impressive.

It was probably only the high-end models that had DOHC engines - the normal ones were probably the usual 1.3 litre crap - 12 valve OHC if you're lucky. The Gemini was sold in the US as the Isuzu I-Mark and the Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum from 1985 to '89. There used to be a good few imported ones here (usually complete bangers), but I rarely see them any more.

    Quality ads, though!
