Winter is probably preferable to high summer as it gets v. hot and sticky. Whereabouts were you thinking of going?

November in Japan last year (2005) was a little cold but the year before was still no coat weather. It's not really that bad compared to the UK but compared to Germany I don't know. Today is March 9th but it was quite chilly even though yesterday was pretty warm. they say it will snow next week !!

I will be in Japan the first week of November, in Kyoto for 4 days, then Toyko for another 4.

We should meet up, get drunk and make fools of ourselves in some bar somewhere to help with international relations!

November is pretty nice, but October is one of my favorite times. Nice and cool. Sweater weather, but not balls ass freezing (like February).

Don't worry, it's been snowing here too. Or 'Killer Siberian Winter Hits Britain!!' as the Daily Mail would like us to believe

My new improved Japan fund is coming together nicely, so I may be able to pull off a November trip. It would be nice to at least meet up for a drink.

I'm trying to get together some cash to go Nov 10th/11th - 17/18th depending. I'll be there for the PS3 launch at 12AM on the streets, queued up outside a shop. Thinking of staying in the Cozy House I.

Never been before, any supportive advice? Cheapest flights I've found are £525 on expedia (inc. taxes, I think), that about the best I'm bound to find? I found some others at £341 but with a 6-or-so hour changing delay and ex. taxes. I think this was Turkish Airlines.

Might rent a car for a day, just for the hell of it. (want to explore motorwars and stuff, I'm a bit of a wheelsman and I love Japanese cars & want to explore OUT of Tokyo, freely)

Anyone fancy meeting up if I am going then? This turning out to be a popular time for Japan meets - strange... :)

    A S S E M B L E R Jap meet?

You may want to keep in mind that the PS2 was about 99% presold before launch day. There were only a few shops in all of Tokyo (in Akihabara) that didn't take preorders, and the queues started 2 days prior.

Considering the price, I can't imagine it happening again... but I can't imagine most things.

Playstation 1 had no sequel up until the PS2, and the PS2's advance over the Playstation 1 was staggering. I don't think that the PS3 would get so much of a response from the Japanese public.

Not only is the Wii coming out near to the PS3's launch, the Xbox 360 has been trying it's best in Japan (although I don't like it), and I think that'll take some of the sales down. Also, I'm sure loads of importers and international people alike were queuing up for the PS2, whereas there's only a week's delay for us brits to get our grubbies on the 'S3. Taking all of these into consideration I reckon I'll be able to queue up outside a Shibuya/Akihabara 6 hours before the launch. However, thanks for the notes, I'll probably be eating my words and will ready myself for a long-winded apology when I return, PS3-less.

Pick yourself up a NeoGeo and slap a PS3 sticker on it if you want to feel better lol.

Y'know what, that'd probably fool my friends, too.

Sadly, I'd be unfulfilled with it's mediocre graphics. Lol

I'd probably write a complaint letter to Sony while being drunk.

Japanese are label whores. The 360 will never have any noticeable effect on the PS3's sales. The Wii... maybe. I think the cost is the best thing you have going for you. That and Japanese don't get their bonus untils December.
