I got a rare Phantasy Star 1 for Mega Drive Genesis in new condition, complete with manual, advertisement flyer and box.
Limited to 1000 manufactured cartridges
Anyone knows how much it would be worth?

I'd say $50.Originally Posted by Christuserloeser

I'd sure like to know who started that "1000 copies produced" ploy because I see more of those than many other rare games (that also go for much cheaper, even).
I wouldn't pay more than $30 for a copy.

I third that. You can't 3 copies of an item where only 1000 exist in one store (then another 5 in another down the street, then another, etc.)
.. it was made 10000 times. You can read the number in some old Japanese magazines, ads and flyers.

That sounds about right. Afterall, it was a reprint of a popular game on an unpopular system, to another unpopular system.

Six years ago, things were relatively different. eBay was much smaller. Less imports, less knowledge going around...
I bought things at that time that I wouldn't buy today.

Oh, I paid only half of the above, because we had still DM ("Deutsche Mark") back then - still 125 Euros (about 150 Dollar) today :smt009
The game is new and still unused so it is a rare piece anyway : p
I'll give it a try at eBay ... wish me luck!

Sorry to bump an old topic :Hangman:
...but I got the source of the PS1 LE:
MegaDrive FAQ by Chris Foulger (ChrFoulger AT aol DOT com)
"The rarest Megadrive game ever released was the original Phantasy Star.
There were only ever 1000 of these ever made and it was only sold in Japan.
The game was a straight port of the Master System version with no
improvements as it ran on the Megadrive’s internal Master System chip."

Someone should either :snipe: the guy that wrote that, or simply email him and tell him he's wrong. Just ask to see his source... I'm sure it's another English-based source, who got it from another one, who took a stab at how many were released.
The other theory: The guy that stated had 3 on Ebay at the time. That used to be a huge money maker, as it only ran about 4000 yen in Japan, but was selling for $100+ on Ebay at one point.
