    My first arcade purchase

In about 10 min I will be the proud owner of a playchoice ten unit, besides playing the nes games it's got on it, what else could I do with the cabinet/moniters? will any other games work with this cabinet?

the only thing more that I know about it is that there is a homebrew bios on nesdev for it.

also, here is a link someone posted on the nesdev board:

Well I found out what the resolution is on the moniter and it was about what I had expected, though it was a little lower then I had hoped.

Is there anything that would make it impossible or very difficult for me to put in a better screen and a three button joystick setup?

as I said before I don't really know anything about them.. but if they are anything like the VS unisystem (also from Nintendo) they output inverted rgb and need a speciall monitor / some hardare to convert to normal rgb. (all this is from memory and may not be true ) but I recommend to check out the second link I provided, they have lots of manuals, info and I think they had a messageboard too.

I was able to find the official inverter board to run standard games on the Nintendo monitors (and vice versa) for my VS. Dr. Mario cabinet, if anyone's interested in a scan of the PCB.

The power cord for this thing has black, white, and green(ground) wires, does it matter which outlet the black and white wires go into? I've found the "ac in" on the machine, but what color goes in what hole is not labeled.

Mairsil helped me with the colors thing, try and find one of my old naomi threads and it says what each is

well I got the power input problem solved, but only one moniter turns on and I don't think any power is getting to the pcb. Sometime today I'm going to go through and see if all the jumpers are set correctly.

Anyone have any info on the converter alvis mentioned? I pm'd him, but I'm too impatient to wait for a reply. If anyone has a scan of this or knows the actual name of the converter I would appreciate it.

Somehow I missed you saying you had one as well, would have sent a pm had I known.

Thank you so much though, this actually may be what I need to finally get some use out of these machines.

heh. I don't even have a monitor.. that is why the stuff was so dirty.. can't use it. was going to buy a cab in the beginning of this year.. but it didn't happend b\c I feelt that I didn't have room for it. but as soon as I'm moving out (pretty soon I hope) I'm getting one ^^

btw.. here is a page from the manual that has to do with that card (just the bottom part of the page). don't know if it's of any interest.. just thought I posted it

Thats why me = no play with monitors lol. I just about had a heart attack when the screwdriver slipped when i was adjusting the screen and threw up a few sparks. Needless to say, i havent played with any monitors since.
