It's not just you, Parris! Not sure if this is also the case for 120v units, but yes, for these models it seems that you can't rely on the displayed Version info to determine whether it's a debug.Originally Posted by Parris

Excellent, I was beginning to think that because of the multiple factor involved, but it's good to get confirmation. If it came to selling these items and I displayed the version page I didn't want to wing it! They perform like Debugs, but try explaining SCPH if it's unusual! Thanks! :thumbsup:Originally Posted by limey

This might be something that has been verified elsewhere by now, seeing as the last post in this thread was 01/10/2008, but I just thought I'd respond regarding the "S" suffix on the DTL-H70002S PSTwo Debug I have.
It seems that, despite the popular belief being that these are locked to the retail PS2 region they represent (in this case PAL), this one is perfectly capable of playing the European and Japanese PS2 retail games with no problems whatsoever. I've yet to test a US game though, but imagine it would work seeing as all region of master discs play without a hitch.
In fact, the early models DTLH-10000 Debugstation (TEST) had been made while the complete region specs were still incomplete (1999-2000) so they only support japanese retails or master discs.Originally Posted by djandy76

Hi, l_oliveira. Thanks for the information. Does that mean that the so-called "S" models are all in fact multi-region then? If so, are there any specific advantages/disadvantages to these models?
*I think* the "S" models support Magic Gate encrypted executables (KELF).
Magic Gate KELF support is required for HDD compatibility, by the way.

"S" models are for trade shows.

Okay, that seems to settle it. So does that mean that, minus the "TEST" branding, they do everything the normal debugging stations do?
Thanks for the confirmation, unclejun.
Sort of like my PlayStation!

After reading a little bit, seems like upgraded units with Magic Gate for the HDD
and support for the the bootable memory card are tagged as "DTLH-x001x" like for example
DTLH-10100 (J)
DTLH-30101 (U/C)
DTLH-30102 (PAL)
etc ....
The said "Startup card" was mentioned on some official as docs part of the "PlayStation 2 Programmer Tool LT" which uses a debug station as target box.
Budget development ftw !

Hi,
As this is my first post here I'd like to begin by saying hello:
Hello!
I have tried searching for an answer to this question but if I did come across it, I certainly didn't understand so perhaps somebody here can please help?
I recently obtained a DTL-H30002 and notice it can play my NTSC-J and U games however it does so in a small portion of the screen at the top. Not knowing anything about how consoles work I would assume this is something to do with PAL and NTSC video output. What I'd like to know is using my DTL-H30002, is there a way to display my NTSC games correctly?
Hello everyone I am new and been looking through the web in addition to here
I am and can be seen that you enjoy the view

@Limitless - I assume you're referring to playing PlayStation one game. As you have a PAL console, any NTSC format PS1 game will display slightly off centre. If your TV supports picture alignment use it, or alignment settings in the game. Otherwise I have found no way of resolving this. PlayStation 2 games are not affected. For the best possible picture results use an RGB Scart lead and make sure that the scart socket you are using on the TV supports RGB.
I own a DTL-H30001 NTSC, 120 volts Test and I have only one question does it play burned games. I was going to read through the forums but there are 5 pages worth when I figured some one knows the answer and can help me out. Thanks a lot.
Unlike modchipped retails, a TEST won't run a simple sector-wise copy. It needs either an original (pressed) game, or a so-called master disc (which is just a normal burned disc with some special data in the system area). To get a master disc, you can either use the CD/DVD Generator from the PS2 SDK (for own code or if you are rebuilding a game from files), or you can rip a normal game, then use xorloser's master disc patcher.
