    Retro's Saturn dev gear

OK, thought it was time to show off some of the old collection. Here's just about everything I have that is Saturn dev related. Of course, I have a lot more Saturn stuff, and many other consoles in my collection, but this will do for now ;)

A couple of notes on these pictures:

    .
    • None of the items will ever be for sale... if they are, you'll know I've lost the will to live!
    • At present, I am not going to be ripping any software or ROMs in my collection, so please don't ask!
    • Please don't reuse my pics without permission.
    • I've tried to make the watermarks as unobtrusive as possible. Please don't try to remove the watermarks and reuse them as your own.
    • I'll be happy to answer any questions.

    Whole lot together.

This is what a complete Sophia setup should look like! Target box, E7000 ICE with pod, JVC VCD card, and software.

Sophia sound box. I don't have a Graphics box, but as it is virtually the same as the target box above, I'm not too fussed! I would like few missing Sophia units, mind!

    Rear of sound box.

SI Address Checker. Floppy disk included to show how big it is! It is heavy, too!

Inside the Address Checker. Notice the cart port is on the side - there is a removable cover for access. Similarly, a removable side panel allows access to the Video CD port. And yes, that's an actual Saturn top!

Psy-Q Saturn with early revision Psy-Q bare card, not cart.

This unit has the VCD port, but no country mod.

The Iguana early Psy-Q card, and SCSI card.

Saturn QA unit. Interesting one, this. It had all the stickers removed, or never there, but there's still sticky on the underneath.

The 3rd party System Disc and memory expansion PCB that came with the QA unit

nice lot kit you have there just wondering on the PSY-Q doesnt the port on the side of the unit do the same thing as the cart? or do does the full setup have a cart and the port on the side of the console is for something else?

That address checker is huge! It reminded me of the overly large SPROBE when I saw the size of it.

    Nice collection! Thanks for sharing.

OK let's see if I can answer all these, then :)

jammi - the port on the side is for VCD card or Mirage, either Virtual CD emulator. A Psy-Q is really just the cart, you could also purchase a modded machine for that, though.

Kev - glad you did! And I won't, ever ever ever ;) hehe

Mark30001 - I wish! I have the 3rd party disc, and I need the 1st party one. I also need a CartDev (of course, I'd like A and B) setup, a Sophia Graphics Box, and the other Sophia unit that I can't remember the name of! I would like a complete boxed Psy-Q cart version, with software. I am also missing an FCPGA adapter and SCSI lead for the Sophia, and a little software (graphics software that I think DJ898 has, and maybe sound software). Oh, and the Yamaha CD writer, for completeness. And some Saturn CD-Rs. hehe.

OOH, you know what? I didn't put my developer's CD in there... wonder where that's got to?!?! :| I'd like the others of those too, hehe. And various tools I don't have.

Not really dev related, but I want the proto Saturn too!!!

DJ898 - yes, the IS Saturn, I want one of those too - thanks for reminding me! How can they put all that in a Saturn, yet mine is so big?? And first party disc, well I haven't seen very many at all! Would love to see your collection all together :)

sayin - the Sega one is a bit harder to get... there were more 3rd party developers!!

    I woke up 28 minutes ago... :)

Thanks Jay! You'll be interested to know that the Sophia (and software, but not the E3000) was from Atari, and still has a copy of Area 51 in the drive! Oh, I know I mentioned that to you before... and the guy I got it from was Eric Krust in California. He seemed more interested in the Atari stuff than Sega... so it found its way to me! :D

I do remember you mentioning it. The name Eric Krust doesn't ring a bell though. Is it the "Safestuff" guy? I thought I asked before, but my crappy memory is sneaking up on me again. ;) The copy of Area 51, is it a match to the Co-Jag released hard drive? Would be interesting if it contained an earlier version, source or any other good stuff like that! Badass collection man!
