Quote from Frank on the same thread:
"I knew tipping the fan community off would cause all sorts of weird bullshit like this.
Anyway. This guy is lying, and the anonymous collector who won isn't hl7_18."
There was a guy at SWS2B who said that he could bid $5000, but that he was feeling skeptical about the legitimacy.
Well if you would care to put forward a detailed statement to the goings on. Your lack of detail as to what is going on causes a lot of speculation.
I hope we don't have price gouging... cause i can't deal with more then gass gouging.
typical fanboy kiddies screwing things up. Not quite sure who to trust :/ how about an auction with out the kiddies?
Coming to an App store near to you soon! or not as the case may be.
Was that aimed at me? Because there's nothing to say that hasn't already been said/determined here. The $3,000 bid was placed by some dipshit who wanted to have a good laugh, the second highest bid of $2,500 was placed by an anonymous collector who has yet to reveal himself here. Dipshit has been revealed, disc is reverted to the second highest bidder. As I understand it payment arrangements are being made, and this thing is over.Originally Posted by ASSEMbler
The "fan community" stuff was in reference to my posting a thread at a Sonic fan site, in order to expose the sales thread here to a larger audience. Obviously this was a bad idea, and one I won't be making again in the future.
EDIT: And there was no gouging going on, every bid I had (with the exception of this ratman guy) was from either someone I knew personally, or "know of" in the collectors market.

It's nearly impossible to keep up with everything, if you want to read what happened on the Sonic scene side of things, visit that thread, it's visible to guests, so you don't have to register.
Ratman was the one who offered $3000. There was a person at SWS2B who goes by the handle of StephenUK willing to pay $5000, but unless if Ratman is completely lying and the seller never had such a thing in mind, and would take $5000, it's doubtul that he would buy it.
It wasn't any "fanboy kiddies" screwing things up. As far as I can tell, the fault here lies squarely on Ratman, who had never been seen before, and shouldn't be considered part of the Sonic scene.Originally Posted by Gleavepaul

Anyway, as I said, this is all the fault of "ratman". The people that are "higher up" in the Sonic scene tend to be a lot more mature than that.
You'd do good to remember that it was thanks to Sonic sceners that we even were able to make it up to $2365. Before the last few minutes, we only had $1700.

It's cool, man. This whole thing has been a gigantic pain in my ass, but it's just about over now.Originally Posted by madhatter256
Hi
Then it looks like the Ratman was a fake ?
I wonder if the anonymous collector would be gentle with the Sonic community...
As an old Sonic fan I'd love to have a copy of Sonic X Treme...
I don't really care about the original thingie
for all Sonic fans and video games fans who know what the hell is Sonic X treme,
it was really an important moment.
If I knew, I would have proposed 3000$ by myself since I had them...
but since I'm not rich 3000$ is really too big... so I did not bid...
but I totally regret it... :smt022
then, if the winner read this...
I just want to say I'm seriously interested !
Well there's a big difference between the type of users frequenting this forum versus a game specific forum.Originally Posted by TheRedEye

It seems to me that that was a *tad* disingenuous and if proved true, the auction would prove null and have to be redone. However, this isn't a proper auction, so I suppose sly fox gets the chicken.
The question is is true, does the seller care enough to know he was probably fooled into a lower bid, etc.
Dont start begging for rips posts will be deleted.

I don't think anyone's worried about begging for rips, I think we're more worried about the fact that ratman fucked us over good, for whatever reason. Hired by the collector? Possibly. He's lied throughout the whole thing, so the only thing he said that I believe, is that he fucked us over (which is also just common sense).
If you knew who the winner was, you'd know this just isn't likely. My theory remains that this is just some idiot who reads Sonic forums and has nothing better to do but cause drama on the internet.Originally Posted by ASSEMbler
Well, I'm certain that the potential $5000 offer from StephenUK is now completely withdrawn, so looks like an anonymous person has fucked both the Sonic scene and ASSEMbler's over pretty good.
To me sellers, buyers, 3rd party all seem dodgy right now...

The unfortunate thing about it, is that we were on the verge of collecting the necessary amount for the game to be handled by guys willing to share.
Ratman screwed that whole drive we had started, and caused us to miss out.
That's why I said we got fucked here, too. Hell, we probably had enough people willing to pay $40 to actually have $2600 :/
