First Microsoft, now Sony. It looks like I have something else to order now.
Is that what this is about? I've never had an "overheating" problem with mine. I consider something to overheat when it gets hot to the point it shuts itself off. My PSTwo gets warm to the touch, but nothing bad.Originally Posted by Johnny Vodka
Then again, I believe mine was manufactured this year. I guess I'll see when I get home.
the us ps2 site has a FAQ..
pretty much the same thing as the xbox, except this is external and can cause more damage than smoking the inside of your xbox.Q: What is the issue with the PlayStation®2 Computer Entertainment Systems AC Adaptor?
A: Sony Computer Entertainment America has received reports that certain AC adaptors included with some slim version PlayStation®2 computer entertainment systems have overheated. Not all PlayStation®2 systems are affected.
Q: What are the safety concerns/risks? / What is the cause of this problem?
A: In the incidents reported, AC adaptors generated unexpected amounts of heat, and sometimes emitted smoke or odors, or melted their plastic housing. Such situations may pose burn or fire hazards, or possibly a risk of electrical shock.
Geez, you'd think it wouldn't be too hard to figure this stuff out before final products ship. I guess the big names are always in such a hurry to get the product out. Because you know, that's more important than our safety...

That would explain it, then. I never visit the official Playstation site :).Originally Posted by Johnny Vodka
well I'd rather get recall info that may affect me from the official source than some side site made for europeans. From what I remember, they admit to more hazzards than MS ever did, for basically the same issue.Originally Posted by Taemos
