Exploitable bugs in games you have found

Any of you guys ever find bugs before anyone else does? Like stumble across something before you read about it in a magazine or on the web?


A few I've found for Destroy all humans:

On the Rockwell level tractor the Ferris wheel with your ship, then knock it into buildings. If you do it right you can flip it onto the top of the ship and it will push you through the ground, then you can fly around down there. You can also do this with the Washington monument in the Capital City level.

The game crashes if you repeatedly stack vehicles between two tight buildings, like make a wall out of them, then take one Majestic car and throw it through them, like you're bolwing. Do it about twenty times.

The Robot general boss can be beaten by luring him into the hangar, where his own missiles kill him in a few seconds.

Stack cars in a pile over the landing spot, then land on top of them. Occasionally the cars will either pop through the saucer or you will beam down inside of the car and get stuck there.

You can occasionally get stuck inside of a tank by placing it on a gernade the running under it so it lands on top of you.

The final boss can be beaten easily by jumping over the surrounding fence and shooting her. She can't shoot through the fence. It's a cakewalk.

You can fire sonic booms at tanks and cars, then catch them on top of the saucer when they fly up into the air. This one is really hard to do.

Finally, on the Mr. Crypto Goes to Capital city mission, jump over the fence at the Octagon and trigger the cutscene , then go back to the gate and trigger the cutscene there. That resets the first cutscene, which you can watch again.

in ff1, to gain more cash before you get the tnt to get to other places, but after you get the boat: go to the first city or the elf city port, save at the inn, and reset. go to in the boat, and turn around to get a fight. 70% of the time, you'll get blue pirates, the ennemy that give you the biggest amount of money at that time for an easy fight. after the fight, to go the inn, save, reset and repeat.

There's also the peak on the right of the second city where you can encounter ennemies you shouldn't be suposed to fight at that time, great to gain levels, but though fights. but i'm sure everyone knew this one. :D

I haven't really found any glitches like this, but occasionally when I am making cheats for snes games I come up with wierd stuff. White yoshi, inverted color, music from different levels plays in the one you are in. Crazy stuff.

A LOOOONG time ago, I played a game in a video rental shop on SNES - it was out back, they charged for game play. It was probably an import US game. It was a driving game, I have a feeling it may have been The Duel - Test Drive 2, not sure, though. Could have been Lotus Esprit... but I think we played that on MegaDrive. All I remember of the game is from time to time, you'd have a police chase, and you didn't want to get caught!

Well, it was a 1 player game, but I was sitting there still with the 2p pad in. I pressed a button, and the car shot in the air!

OK, not much of an exploit or bug, I don't even know if it was printed in the manual as we didn't have it... but hehe yeah!

I dunno if I'm the only one this ever happened to.

At rare times when I used to play my Mario Kart 64 on my N64, at the level Royal Raceway during GP mode, a computer character would fall into a certain spot in the lake, then skip a whole section of the lap and finish the race like a minute earlier than anyone else!

This would only happen in the GP Extra Mode in the final lap of the stage when I am in 1st or 2nd place, far ahead of them, and the computer player is in places 5-8.



So many years ago, I put in 4 player mode, and tried this at the exact spot where I would see the person disappear. It took hours later, but my Mario character disappeared! He appeared to sink forever at the spot where the lake is, but it showed on the map that he was located at the goal line, which was weird. I shot shells, which also proved wrong!

I took a picture (pretty crappy one) more than 5 yrs ago to show what would happen when I try to die there in 4 player mode.



In the top left box, Mario is below the water in grey color forever sinking.
In the top right box, Luigi is somewhere in the grass (nothing significant)
In the bottom left box, Donkey Kong is at the goal line where supposedly Mario is supposed to be at!
In the bottom right box, Wario is somewhere on the tracks.

Play Daggerfall for the PC - the game is like one huge exploitable bug.

Runs fine on Windows 95... funny, as that's what it was developed for! Ran perfectly on my Acer P100.

A PC RPG game called Gothic had this glitch where you can jump off cliffs and land safely by strafeing left or right, great for being chased by tough enemies and jumping off a cliff, you land safely by strafeing but they die from the fall.

...Too numerous to list I'm afraid, although I like the sound of the Mario Kart glitch as I've never stumbled on that one before.

I remember playing a pretty horrid genesis game, Sword of Sodan many years ago and stumbling on a warp glitch. It was a certain hole that you could fall into on level three I think. Four out of five times it would kill you, but occasionally it would warp you to the next level.

i never found it in the manual but nascar dirt to daytona for the gamecube had several exploitable glitches, first, when you select a single player race, and it takes you to the loading screen, hold down the l trigger imediatly until the game has loaded, instead of being at the track with 42 other cars, your in a single player test sesion,a feature not listed in the manual....

and in the modified series (not sure of the others) you can find gaps where two gaurd rails have met, if you line your car up and jam on the gas, you can squeeze through them into the infield of the track, where you can drive right through buildings and trucks, but if you drive to the exact center of certain tracks infields and certain road courses, your car will fall through the ground, spin around and youll end up back at the start/finish line....

I bought Virtua Tennis for the PSP last week and I've found a bug in it. In the minigame Prize Sniper when you hit something very slowly it reacts like I would have hit all of the items in one shot (big amounts of points, that is :) ). So both my players are at level 22 in serve and like 3 in everything else :)

Where to start in Halo 1 or 2?

Does anyone know about the Scarab gun on metropolis level? I got it the old fashioned HARD way.

Of course there are superbounces, the rocket goes around a parked vehicle oribiting it, if you aim just right, Tank cannon that shoots like a machine gun!, grabbing the flag through walls, Sword cancelling, and a lot of other stuff.

In TS:FP you can make maps, so there are gonna be bookus of bugs in it, like falling through the floor, launching yourself over the walls, game freezing, and the bots can walk and jump through windows! >:l
On campaign, the huge battlemech hurt himself to death with his own missles! My guess is that the mech was a n00b.

There's also this trick in Goldeneye 007. If you shoot all the monitors in the main room of the bunker level in a certain way, all projectiles spawned thereafter (ie missiles, great fun with enemy rockets!) will have a velocity of 0 - ie, hover in mid air.

In 'Shadow of the beast' (Lynx version), by entering the well and immidiately exiting it a couple of time the graphics will be all garbled and you'll be able to pass the locked door at the bottom. I tried it again recently and it happened but I wouldn't get past the door..oh well. It does work.

And just recently I found out that you cheat in some slot game (forget the name, it's boring anyway..or was it Virtual casino..?! n/m ) for the Saturn. You stop the reels yourself and by simply counting and stopping each reel after about the same amount of time you can easily get lines and win money :D

In Blood for the PC you can skip HUGE sections of certain levels by using the bomb boost trick. Lob a stick of dynamite at your feet and jump at the right time. Especially useful on E3L1&2.

In Duke Nukem 3D you can skip E3L8 altogether by tossing a pipe bomb through the crack at the start of the level.

In Pete sampras tennis for the Game Gear, there's a certain exploid which can be used against the CPU. I found it out myself and it had something to do with fast returning of their service and a certain point. Certainly made winning a LOT easier :D

And I hacked the Assault Rigs password system by simply entering the whole slew of possible codes. For certain games this is REALLY easy to do fast because of the lack of possibilities.

You know how you seem to fly at the enemy when you slash them with the sword? Just press X and right trigger at the same time. (The reticule must be red on enemy, BTW) A lot of times you will go flying, while other times you stop right in front of them. Sword cancel someone boosting in a spectre head on, and you might go high enough to see the whole map. ;)

Pretty crazy bug. 0_o, going to try it when i'll get my copy. Can you move around while you're in the air? or can you just go back on your feets?
