PC Versions of Capcom PS2 and PSX games, Korean ports

So, the other day, I was looking for some Rockman X soundtracks and came across the Korean version of Rockman X7 for the PC.

Now, I know there was this neat version of Megaman X released for the american market about 1994, and X4 as well, somewhere in the late 90s - for the Windows PC.

I've also seen Breath of Fire IV for the PC, in English. Boy, I'd be absolutely ecstatic if they ported BOFV as well, since my PS2 is dead and I really really really miss that game... or RMX Command Mission. Man, I'd buy those in a heartbeat.

Are there or were there any more PS2 or PSX games by Capcom or similar company ported for the PC?
Are there more Rockman X or Breath of Fire, especially, ports?


The fact that these are Korean is also very interesting. I know that it was sort of illegal to have Japanese electronics in Korea (thus, many clones, and the Zemmix exist) - Does this still hold true?
Being that Korea is the Internet Capital of the world, it'd make a lot of sense for there to be many Korean PC ports of Japanese games.

I really have to learn how to read Korean now...

I'm not sure about the Korean versions. I have the Megaman X and Super Street Fighter II Turbo American ports, if you want to know anything about those. SSF2T is worth buying for the soundtrack alone, in my opinion.

capcom of america released 5 megaman games for the pc if i recall correctly, megaman x, x3, x4, x5, and legends, not counting the 2 it licensed to hi-tech in the early 90's which weren't ports at all, and were utter shit.
all of which were great ports, with the exception of x for dos, which always felt like it had sluggish controls and off timing (don't think the problem was my pc back then as i remember trying to play it on several friends pcs as well and it wasn't any better). it did come with a free genesis style controller, which i still have somewhere.
capcom of japan released all of the above except x, but they also got ports of x6, dash 2, and x8, but no x7.
in korea i know there's a lot of rockman/megaman games for pc (they can't decide on which name to use over there i think as i'm pretty sure i've seen both used), they did get a licensed port of x7, as you mentioned, and they also have a collection of rockman 1-6 on a disc (which i believe is also licensed), damn i used to know this great site which had a list of all of them, if i find the site i'll post it

Megaman X seems fine to me. They removed the big bots that were present in certain stages of the game, though (the Penguin and Chameleon stages), and the sound effects aren't too hot.

The controls worked well for me. I almost beat the game a number of times, but that bastard Sigma always seemed to kill me right before I could get the finishing shot in. Oh well, I'm sure there was another incarnation to go through anyway.

Capcom's been quietly releasing a lot of its games on PC.

Chaos Legion and Silent Hill 3 both got official releases in the US, among other games.

Silent Hill is Konami though :P 3 and 4 were released on PC (I think 2 might have been as well). Capcom has released a surprisingly large amount of PC games, I think. Resident Evil 1-3, Mega Man Legends, Dino Crisis 2, Robin Hood Defender of the Crown and Mega Man X5 I even have in my personal collection, as well as the aforementioned Silent Hill 3. I STILL haven't actually played any of these other than the REs I played previously on consoles :P Capcom's PC games also tend to be dirt cheap when you can find them.

That port of Breath of Fire IV is not very good, though. I have it and it's not great - but it does look a bit prettier than the PSX version.

GameArts, or UbiSoft (who knows who ported it) it seems, also does this. I have Grandia 2 for the PC and it runs quite okay - but I like the Dreamcast original better. (That game, I have all three versions - PC, PS2 and DC)

With my PS2 being dead and me out of a decent pay, I really need GOOD PC games, being that I have a very decent setup and am used to console gaming.

The funniest thing about the Mega Man X5 for PC is that since it's a PSX port, there's not a QUIT option on the main menu. You have to kill the program to exit, lol.

I heard that was a problem with one of the Final Fantasy PC ports, as well :).

I think Rockman X7 does this as well.

I can't really tell if there's a quit - or not, but I have never been able to quit either way, without Alt+F4.

The fact that I can't read Korean doesn't help me confirm a lot of this, though, but I have a friend I can call.

I know you can't exit from Raystorm either. The buttons are even mapped as the Playstation controls (there are the X, O, Triangle, and Square buttons next to the keyboard commands). That's about as lazy as they come.

Shikigami no Shiro 2 has also been ported to the PC - A friend has it. It looks quite good.

Speaking about Raystorm - Raycrisis and Layer Section also have PC ports, and so does G-Darius. I don't know how any of them run, though, other than Layer Section, which is not bad but not great, IIRC.
