Kickass game. The casino I'm at has the arcade machine. I must've put at least $9 into that thing. I got my lil card and everything. Does anyone know if it's coming out here on a system? Is it on PS2 or something in Japan? Do the cards you get from US machines work on Japanese ones? I drive a Skyline GT-r [R34], in blue sadly. I couldn't change the color fast enough.
The PS2 does have some versions of the Initial D series, but I can't be of much help since I don't own the system.
I don't believe the US save card will work in a Japanese unit. I regularly play Wangan Midnight/Maximum Tune at my nearby arcade and have compared the card to that of the Japanese one (pics can often be seen in Arcadia Magazine reviews) and they're similar but the names and text seem to be in kanji which I doubt the US machine would recognize.
Though, you gotta love those save cards in today's coin-op games! Nice little souvenir as well as an incentive to keep playing! ;)
BTW: Which casino? Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun?

Heh. I'm not much of a gambler as it is. But my folks like to go up with some friends once or twice a year and I like to go mainly because of the arcade and other attractions. Plenty to see and do at either one.
Im not even sure how far away it is from me, but its relatively close. might have to go down there sometime
I forgot to mention this lil 11-12 year old bastard of a child kept racing me and picking expert tracks. He wasn't an expert, his car was just souped up. He was fucking driving and shifting like this was a rythm game, dancing to the fruity music (It was like J-pop in English). I got stuck on the 2nd dude on the normal course.
SuperGrafx, Foxwoods is boring. It was only fun because I was with my dad (who is a fun guy to be around) and we were at this food marketing show doing crazy stuff. Outside of that and the arcade, I really only scoped out some chicks, ate the Hard Rock cafe (the burger I got sucked), and watched Darrell Hammond do stand up. That and I looked at a tough ass Jacob and Co watch at a watch store. It was probably around $160,000-$200,000. I hear Foxwoods is more for gambling. Moheagen (or however you spell it) has more to do. There are a lot of shops, one sells games and cd's (overpriced though), and there is an arcade aswell.
They're both casinos, gambling is what you're supposed to do heh

Initial D Arcade Stage 3 ??? man, you're only about a year out of date :p Been playing that for well in to a year now. It's a great game but I know the japanese cards won't work in British machines so they are most likely not going to work in US machines too. By the way, the western cabinets have really shitty screens. The Japanese ones have perfectly flast CRT screens which look much better.

btw. acording to system 16 initial d 3... is NAOMI 2 GD-ROM (Naomi 2 has four time the amount of main memory and graphics memory that Dreamcast )

I just visited the nearby arcade today and holy hell! They have 3 new games in, all of which I've wanted to play since I'm a regular reader of Arcadia magazine.
Anyway, they finally got:
*Maximum Tune 2 (wangan Midnight)
*Initial D 3
*Ghost Squad (Sega Chihiro-based squad light gun game...picture House of the Dead with hostage elements and some huge freaking rifles with a switch on the side to alternate between single/burst/rapid fire shooting!!)
First I played Initial D3...spent about $5 worth, got my card and beat the first three challengers on the Myogi beginner level. Sweet! Used a Mitsubishi Evo VII since I'm a Mitsu man. Overall, it's a good game.
Next, went up to play the long awaited Maximum Tune 2. Being a huge fan of the first (it was basically all I played at this arcade, it's good to see that they got the sequel. There are now a total of four seats at this particular arcade set up for MT2...looks to me like they bought a brand new dual seater cab and upgraded the existing MT1 cab to the new software. Anyway, plunked in my credits, plunked in some more for a card, and proceeded to do a multiplayer race with some ricers. Amazingly I came in first (this time using a Lancer Evo VIII). Then I put in some more tokens to begin work on the Story mode. Having read alot about this game in recent Arcadia mags, I'm pleased to see that they didn't really change a whole lot in the sequel. It plays as good as it always has, but the CPU opponents do seem tougher, even at earlier levels. That said, I still beat the first 3 story mode opponents (the third victory coming down to a neck and neck race which I just barely won since the CPU got tangled up in some traffic inches before the finish) and have 2 more to beat for the Class C rank. Strangely, I've earned the rank of "Fastest EVO Master" which is printed on my card...not sure what this means--maybe I'm the best on that particular machine using the EVO or maybe it's a multiplayer type taunt sort of thing. In any event, great stuff and I look forward to playing this more. Oh yes, like the first game, this too is a Chihiro-based title.
Finally, Ghost Squad. This is a surprisingly good game! I played the first mission which involves going into some mansion with a squad of SWAT members, killing terrorists and freeing hostages. I can't even begin to describe how cool these rifle lightguns are! They have 2 handles and 2 triggers...the second trigger gives you special "action" abilities like freeing hostages (you target a hostage and hold down the action trigger while a meter fills up until they're freed). There's the aforementioned thumbswitch on the side of gun which lets you alternate between single/burst/machine gun shooting modes...obviously in a room full of hostages you want to use the single burst shots as not to kill someone by accident! It's like HOTD, running in glorious high res courtesy of the Chihiro board and I'd love to see this end up on Xbox someday! I must say, I never expected to see this in a US arcade, though the "purchase a save card" option (as shown in Arcadia mag previews) does appear to have stayed in Japan.
All in all, I'm so pleased!
i tried out ghost squad at theatre arcade that had it and i must say it wasnt bad, though the the loud click feedback was kind of annoying, still not a bad effort on segas part, in fact at that same place they got a ferrai 533 cabinat with the 3 screens and intial d version 3 as well.
You've got agood taste in cars my man :) Just what I use in real, err I mean game life.

I'm seriously looking at buying some type of EVO in the next 2-3 years. Currently own an Eclipse, which I'm pretty happy with as it is.
