I love how everyday normal streets in Japan look soo cool just because it's in Japan.

I know for a FACT no one would be interested in seeing pictures of gas stations or Wal*Mart or any of the streets I travel down in my everyday life.

I got my car back today with the new gearbox so the family and I went for a drive in to Yamaguchi along the coast. We visited a temple that worships a fox God. I only had my really poor phone camera with me but I hope these are good enough.

Here's the main shrine. It's located at the top of a long and VERY steep hill that some cars can't even get up. I made it mind you but had to stick to 2nd gear. Sadly I never got a good shot of the view overlooking the sea due to the sun being in front of me. A shame really because you can really see just how high up this place is.

Here are some of the stone lanterns that litter the place.

One of the fox Gods. Sure looks like a right evil sod. Then again most Japanese Gods do. More like devils if you ask me.

As well as the main temple there are many little shrines all connected by this pretty long tunnel. It takes 10 minutes to walk from one end to the other.

The entrance to the never ending tunnel. In summer this place is crawling with horrid spiders!

The missus and son are just about to enter the steep drop section.

The shrine is probably for Inari, foxes are Inari's messengers.

Some largely uninspired snow pictures. Amazingly, someone tried to break into our house the night of the snow. Whoever it was scaled the side of our three storey house and got onto the roof and tried to force their way in through the door on the roof. Thoughts are somewhere between "Grrrr" and "wow, mad skillz!"

I just heard a noise that I assume is just snow falling off the tree onto the roof, but for a second I thought it was someone climbing up there... or maybe an extreme number of squirrels.

I know for a FACT from EXPERIENCE that you are completely wrong. As to why people here are interested in that... I can't tell you, but they are...

BTW, I've been to 4 cities in China in 2 week and in Japan over 5 summers and can say that there are plenty of parasols here under the sun to compete with China. PLENTY of annoying parasols.

We had a weird run-in w/ some weirdo a few weeks ago. I was gone. My wife had the sense to shut the door when the guy got out of the genkan, but it looked like he was scouting the place. He's not shown up again.

Snow is pretty here for about all of 10 minutes, then it goes to complete shit. Nice pics, Charlie.

Videos of them stopping traffic to guide the cars out would be better. So over the top.
