Yeah, it's on ugly M.F. ! I'm quite proud of that shot as well. I can imagine people using it for their sites so I watermarked it :110: When I took the shot I was about 2 meters away from the thing due to a shit load of Spiders being near it (I hate spiders!). Good job the zoon works well.

The field is on top of Shibuya Station (by the Inokashira line). The train line you see on the 3rd or so floor of the Tokyuu Department Store is the Yamanote Line. 246 is the freeway off to the right.

I never knew there was such a place until the week before I moved from Japan. We had shipped all our gear off, so lived in the Tokyuu Excel Hotel for about a week, which is where we stayed on this last trip.

Today was the first day of the Bakan Festival in Shimonoseki. So me and the missus went down to the city center where it was taking place. First things first though. Yesterday afternoon we had a wonderful red sky. Check out the picture below.

Do you notice the 24hour DVD porn shop

OK, on to the festival. The festival started at 8pm and spread right down the main street to the station. The big tower you can see in the background is locally known as the big dick  I'm sure you can see why.

There are thousands of people at the festival which made taking pictures quite tough plus not to mention phone cameras aren't the best at night time shots.

There are almost 100 stalls to visit with many selling food from fried meat to some really dodgy looking crap such as squid. There are also many game stalls where you must catch fish or throw hoops on to targets etc.

This food shown below is known as Yakitori. It basically means fried chicken but in reality it's actually cooked on a spit. Not only chicken as well. There's also pork and other stuff such as chicken skin which is actually pretty good. You can eat it with sauce or seasoning.

This next one is Yaki Soba. Again Yaki is fried and soba is a type of noodle. this stuff tastes really good as well. Other ingredients are cabbage, onion and strips of beef.

Here is some of the real disgusting crap they sell. Fried Squid head and fried squid legs. Like a lot of the stuff they eat in Japan, this has no real taste so the cake it in sauce.

And being festival time there are loads of sexy young ladies in Kimonos. Had to take this shot very quickly while the missus wasn't looking.

For some odd reason there are many Palm trees in Shimonoseki. There doesn't seem to be any in other parts of Japan or not in this area.

Here's something that is just plain wrong !! Hard Gay Teddy Bears !

Finally before we went home we bought some Pikachu castella cakes.

Yeah, I know that's childish but they are so delicious. As you can see, one is being murdered below !

Once we got home we headed off to Sega World next to my place. I was surprised to find that they had converted a cabinet to take Saturn pads. Here you can see it hooked up to Melty Blood.

These gutted Net City cabinets were being prepared for Virtua Fighter 5. I saw 4 Lindbergh units surrounded by all the promotion gear for VF5. Unfortunately I couldn't get a shot due to the guys installing them being arse holes. Still managed to get a shot of the cabinets though

sorry guys, but this thunder bolt isn't a fake. i let the cam recording while the thunder storm was going on. and this is one captured frame of the whole movie. i know it looks kind of strange, but it's for real!
1st: the bolt seems to be pink, since it was recorded at daytime so the lens of the cam was not that sensitive as it would be while a night recording. 2nd: pink is the indication for a lesser energy loaded flash, means the discharge is weak. since the air isn't burning that strong as in a strong discharge (white flash).
further, a cam doesn't take pictures in real colors. so even the flash in the picture is shown in pink, it may be differ to the real flash :)

Let me guess which one is you  I love BBQ at the river side. haven't had one is quite some time mind you.

Summer sure is the season for fireworks in Japan. Last week we had the Kamon Kaikyo Firework Festival. Basically Shimonoseki and Moji (Kita Kyushu) have a battle to see who can have the best firework show. It's an amazing site ! 1 whole hour of massive and I mean MASSIVE fireworks. Here's a little map to show you the area.

The fireworks in Itabashi, Tokyo were quite a sight as well, a whopping 1 hours 45 minutes of explosion goodness. =)
The Sumidagawa fireworks in Asakusa were pale in comparison; you could barely see anything and the trains were a bit too crowded for comfort.

Japan does get a bit fanatical about their fireworks. They have them here in Honolulu all the time (every Friday to be precise) but they're pretty weak. Even the 4th of July and New Years Fireworks kind of suck donkies.

Yakumo thanks for risking that kimono shot, it's great.

I sometimes buy soba noodles from my local japanese grocery and make yaki soba. The smell brings back faint memories of Japan when I was young.

This afternoon a car blew up right near my home !!! What had happened is that the driver had stopped for a red light when something in the back of his van caught fire from the heat. The next thing you know the whole van burst in to flames !! The driver got out fine. Luckily there were no other cars parked next to or behind him at the time.

By the time I got back to the scene with the phone the fire brigade had put out the fire (a matter of 5 minutes!!!) So here are two shots of his now burned out mini van  Serves the soft sod right anyway. These guys who drive these mini white vans speed all the time plus pack them with shit that's always falling off.

Wow, must have been carrying something highly flammable to have burned up that quick.
