I went in to Yamaguchi today with a friend who's into photography. A good chance to take some photos. I ended up taking 226 photos. Here's a few that I kept.

thanks guys. They highest point in Yamaguchi really is high but unfortunately I have no idea how high since there's no documentation. Let's just say that all those other mountains below are pretty big and this place I went to dwarfs them. It takes about 10 minutes driving to reach the top up a very narrow track. Than god for 4WD and a strong gear box. at the top of the mountain are a load of TV and Radio antennas.

I actually walked right next to these but to be honest there's nothing to see. They're just base stations. There was a hand glider launch point that seemed to be abandoned.

Yamaguchi sure does have some amazing areas. The pictures came from 3 main points being the mountain, Tsunoshima island (the beach photos) and some pretty big red temple up a steep hill. Access by car is easy as long as you don't mind driving on narrow roads and have a good head for heights. I sure do miss the neon though. I love Gaijin Punch's Tokyo night-life photos. I don't really have access to anything like that in Shimonoseki where I live. I could get a few nice shots in Kokura where I work however the only time I'm there at night is when I'm drunk so it's a bit pointless.

I shot a gig for a friend (Hacienda) and the Gay Pride event in the park not long ago. It's taken me a while to go through those. I had about 1300 from Hacienda, cut it down to about 650 keepers, then picked about 125 from those that were unique enough to stand on their own. I posted some from the Pride event in the Member Photography Thread. Here are links to the lot of them if anyone cares. They're not really Japan-centric so probably shouldn't be posted here.

Jesus, that Rainbow Pride is a bit too much for me. I'm not against homosexuality if that's someone's preference but I'm also not a fan of the flaunting of it. Especially all the trannies on Japanese TV. None have talent and all but one are but ugly. Nice photos though.

Well, it's not for everyone. I'm pretty open minded, and generally unoffendable, so have a good time. It's more of a circus parade than anything, unlike the pride parades in the US where they're apparently just out of fucking control.

EDIT: I hear you about Japanese TV. Not only are they annoying (just like everyone else on TV) but it's like if you want to be famous it's okay to be gay... if you don't want to be famous it's still okay to be gay, just make sure nobody knows. :|

I spent the weekend down in Oita so here come the photos :)

the first 2 photos are of a pretty big wooden roller-coaster called Jupiter. It was the most uncomfortable experience I'd ever had. No wonder they don't make roller-coasters out of wood any more. I was sore all over when I got off. I will say this though, it was a fantastic ride. Genuine crap your pants stuff to rival the most modern of roller-coasters.

I'm glad you guys are liking the photos. It makes taking them even more worth it. Some of my favorite shots are Gaijin Punch's night shots. I envy him because around here there's no good places for night city shots. I could take my camera out when I go drinking in Kita Kyushu but there's no point really. I'll be too drunk to take anything worth while and I'd probably damage it some how.

Night shots out the ass here, but you have to think ahead. While there's tons of neon, there's only select spots with enough ambient. Been busy lately, so haven't posted too much new stuff. I went out yesterday morning though in Shinjuku station and got a few keepers.
