    No Nintendo Revolution at E3..wtf

    http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000663040648/

Speaking of Nintendo, the word on the street is that contrary to what everyone was expecting/hoping, they’re actually not going to be showing off their next-gen Revolution console at E3 next month. Nintendo prez Satoru Iwata is reportedly concerned that the console is so filled with mind-blowing awesomeness that he’d rather wait until it’s closer to being released to show it off rather than risk competitors stealing all their great ideas. Oh, and it probably doesn’t hurt that they’d be jockeying with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 for everyone’s attention. Anyway, this is still unconfirmed, but supposedly they’re only going to show off a few Revolution demos and focus on the Nintendo DS (and its wireless multiplayer gaming capabilities) instead.
i know it's supposedly a year out, but still seems kinda odd...

I wouldn't dismiss it immediately. Could definately be interesting. Not quite sure they should be revealing it too late - If it was earlier on i would have said to reveal a week earlier than X2/PS3, but its a bit late now.
I jus hope nintendo dont cock this up somehow, but im sure they will in at least 1 aspect (e.g. no thumbstick on DS :(

Seems to me they have their act way more together than Sony. Better launch games for thei handheld, better craftsmanship, smart enough to get around 90 million dollar lawsuits, etc. etc.

i'm being tired of all nintendo BS, they need to know they're not first anymore, and that they need to make the nintendo name shine again, They don't have the time to say their things are so much great that they cannot show it, it just seems like Bullshitting the consumer
"(...)A One World Government and one-unit monetary system, under permanent non-elected hereditary oligarchists who self-select from among their numbers in the form of a feudal system as it was in the Middle Ages. In this One World entity, population will be limited by restrictions on the number of children per family, diseases, wars, famines, until 1 billion people who are useful to the ruling class, in areas which will be strictly and clearly defined, remain as the total world population." Dont let media feed you with lies. open your eyes and search information yourself.

Not a good move for Nintendo...They need to realise that is not just the consumer that needs to know what it is like, but the developers as well...That, or there is something with the Revolution that they don't want people to know right now.

I think the problem with Nintendo, it's their strategy. Of course, games like Zelda, Mario and many other famous Nintendo brands will sell, but the gamers want more than that.

You can dismiss the PS2 online strategy, but at least you can play tons of games online. The Xbox is way more advanced (and with the new Xbox it probably will be even better). What about Nintendo?

with ds they are really droping the ball and in a way repeating the same they did with 64, but in this case there are plent of game aval in japan, just they are not being released here fast enough. Im still hoping another code and that surgen game by spike get released here.

With E3 being around the corner, one can only hope Nintendo will announce a decent 'roadmap' for the DS releases this year in both America as Europe.

I was hoping the Nintendo situation would improve when Iwata took the reigns from Yamauchi, but it appears to be the same old song and dance....

The old man is gone, the company needs to get its act together.

But this was back in the mid-90s when they had this good launch game, as well as late 80s.

I think Nintendo isn't showing off their new console because they probably don't have the hardware put together. I mean, they haven't even shipped out ONE alpha kit. All the demos are just predictions of what it will really look like, graphically.

That seems more likely than Nintendo actually making something truly original rather than redoing an old mascot for a new generation.

Yeeesh, aren't we all a ray of fucking sunshine today??

Why all the nintendo hating, all of a sudden? Sure, it's a bad thing they won't be showing Revolution at E3, but they're not going to screw up this time just because of that. Something in my gut tells me there's an ace under their sleeve, and it's gonna be great. I might be wrong, but I doubt it.

I'll say let's wait and see. We ain't seen nothing in terms of X360 or PS3, and Frankly, I'm not much more impressed by PS2 than I was with the Gamecube. Or the PSX and N64 in their time. And X360.... man, the only redeeming feature about the XBox so far is that it's a good Emulation PC. X360 is gonna be a serious black horse in this generation but beside those cool NFL pics look (which are about as sexy and drool-inducing as a football player can look to me), we still have lots to see and comment.

Also, the DS does not completely suck - nor is the PSP the end-all be all of portable console gaming. The PS2 isn't what the PSX was proportionally, and the Gamecube is a serious improvement from the N64. I'd rather get the DS than the PSP, being that I STILL do not have a god damn GBA (and it looks like I might afford one next month. Hell fucking yes!) .

Anway, my prediction (which you should take with a grain of salt, being that I'm pretty much speculating) is that X360 is going to appeal to the same XBox crowd, but will not improve upon its predecessor in terms of market penetration. PS3 is going to be a serious dud, which won't innovate at all, but will survive on the PS2's and PSX previous marketing appeal alone. Revolution will be truly something cool and innovative, and also something VERY simple - and it'll still end up second or third - just about enough to keep nintendo alive.

The portable wars - the DS will win unless one of the folllowing scenarios comes to be:
    1) the PSP drastically drops its price
    2) the PSP becomes easily "copiable" and many Warez-ing consumers get software for dirt cheap, making the hardware investment seriously much more attractive
    3) the DS software in the future sucks much, much, more than the PSP software - making its cost a moot point.
