Dreamcast Toyota Doricatch Series (Not for 56k)

As you may know Toyota asked Sega to produce some car models for the new range of cars at the time. Sega pulled out all the stops with these car models producing the best looking car models seen on a console to date and don't forget that these were made in 1999 !! That's 6 years ago. Just imagine how cool they would have looked back then :)

All these shots are taken from the Land Cruiser disc.

I've made a video of this and the Toyota Gaia running on the Dreamcast. You can download it from my FTP using the standard login details which are

    Enjoy !!

Wow - they look pretty damn good! I wonder how they compare to the GT4 models? Though unfortunately - out of all the crap cars that are in GT4 - these two aren't there. Seriously, what where they thinking putting in those pick-up trucks and MPVs!?

You can't actually drive the car but it does have a rolling demo which the last 3 pictures are from. The Land Cruiser disc isn't as varied as the Gaia disc (shown on the video I made) but it does have more stable analogue controls. One both discs you can customize the car and pan the camera around it plus zoom in and out in real time at 60fps. The Gaia disc however allows you to change the background giving different lighting conditions plus you can actually open the car's doors and pan inside the car !! Both discs have loads of FMV footage about the history of each car and so on. The Land Cruiser is pretty interesting. I learned from watching it that the first Land Cruiser was made in 1955 !

    yes, that would be nice.
i love the land cruisers, and having a disc like that woud be very good, knowing that the disc has the full story of the car.
is there any english in the disc or itīs all in japanese?
and do you have FMV of all land cruisers or just the '99 version?

Yakumo can you look into the rumor there were special dreamcasts made to play the demos at dealers?
    Specifically a gaia dreamcast.

No there were not any special Dreamcasts apart from the Toyota Dreamcasts which are just normal Dreamcasts with an Orange (I think it was) Toyota sticker on them.

I haven't watched all the FMV parts yet but it does give a history of the Land Cruiser so you do get to see other models. I love the latest one (Not on the disc of course) There's also no English on the disc.

Not to go off topic, but there's this pic I saved from gazoo.com a while ago when I saw them talking about those discs. Care to have a crack at it? I've been dying to find out what it means.

i must say the inside detailing is very nice, the outside isnt that bad, but then again this was made pre gt3 so this is an achievement itself for a promotion in 1999

Assembler, your pic is just a Gazoo Ad, asking for people to register. Doesn't say anything about discs. :(

Yeah, these are the ones of Yahoo. I wone the Celsior disc which was just FMV :no then yesterday these two turn up in the post !! I mailed the guy selling them and he says that the winning bidder backed down so now I have them. Luckily for him I still wanted them otherwise he'd would have just given two discs away :p I still haven't paid the guy yet. I'll pay him tomorrow. Pretty expensive though at 4000 and 5000 yen each. Still, the guy did also send me a few Toyota DVDs for free. He must thunk I'm a Toyota car nut or something :D

@ASSEMbler, your sign is jsut an add like Gaijinpunch said :(
