Favourite Yeast Extract Spread

You must know the basic ones if you are a fan like me! Vegemite, Promite, Marmite.
I've recently tired of Vegemite because of the inconsistent hardness of the spread!
Usually Vegemite is quite hard and difficult to spread on fluffy white bread without mangling it.

Today I've discovered AussieMite. Soft, spreadable, less rich than OzEmite (by Dick Smith Foods).
I'm just amazed at how good life can get sometimes.

Anyone care to name their favourite? Or perhaps the least hated for those without the acquired taste!

We basically only get Marmite, here, the rest are ether disgusting or never in stock.

As for if I like it or not, I would rather grab some bovril, Marmite, is a bit too strong and pungent for me, besides nothing beats a thick buttered,bovril and cheese sandwich microwaved :P

The Australian version of Marmite, isnt real Marmite (which is what fasman is talking about).

I'll have to get some Promite and Marmite locally. Oh and there's MightyMite as well. There sure are a few out there!
This AussieMite though is so classy looking. Makes me feel like I can afford the finer things in life.
That and it has an Emu on it. Actually I think it was mostly the fact there's an emu on it. Well played AussieMite creators!

Edit: I should get some of that genuine Marmite and give it a whirl. Can't be worse than Vegemite these days.

Admittedly, having bought 1 small flask of Marmite a couple of weeks ago... tasted a knife tip, but I never got around spreading it on my bread.

I have only tried Vegemite, because my ex girlfriend(who had just came back from aus) jabbed it with toast in my face and said try it. All our friends were in the back laughing, but yea I almost threw up. The taste reminds me of locker room smell. Apparently they all tried it and hated it before me, but wanted me to find out. I'm cultured(and not humble about it), and have tried many things from other countries, but I can say Vegemite sucks. I think you have to grow up with the stuff. Though she did say that most Australians don't like peanut butter and jelly/jam. I haven't tried any of the other mites.

Kids were fed it and malted solids in school to keep healthy.

Proper Marmite.

Uh, what?! It's not banned in the US. I've taken Marmite over and sent it over. Never been stopped. And British food shops sell it, albeit at ridiculous prices:

And yes, what they say there is true - it's good in cooking, not just as a spread.

They tried to introduce it in India, where it wasn't appreciated as a spread, but got some support as an ingredient:

My god is it good, just about every kid in the US eats it. Everything over here is hydrogenated(has trans fats) now, so you never really see the oil in the bottom. But hey when I was a kid(when the only ingredient in peanut butter was peanuts), I would swirl the PB and jelly around with a butter knife(without mixing them), this would put the juices back in the ingredients.
Its the staple diet for trailer parks and free lunches for kids who cant afford it in school(subsidized).
Just spread the peanut butter(only a few mm thick) on one piece of bread, then put the jelly(only a few mm thick) on the other. and press together and enjoy... Tell your friends!

I do remember seeing peanut butter being made fresh when I was a child, sure did smell good!

Alright we might have an issue with the thickness of peanut butter. By default I empty half the jar onto the (usually) toast.
Melts so good. Any particular type of jam? Strawberry? Strawberry sounds good right?
