Famicom/NES it would seem. Kind of surprising if that's right. But I just wonder what mappers he plans to support. It will be interesting either way.

I have been holding getting a NES alltogether, I wonder what is best to have, a pal, ntsc-u or the famicom...

Nes 2 top loader is the best IMHO.

This is famicom shape. Cuts down the unsightly bulk of having the already large Powerpak with a converter.

    from KRIKzz's post here:

I will make two versions, one for nes, and another for famicom. Famicom will be released faster. Release date is unknown at this moment

AV Famicom is the best. NES top loader only has RF out.

Anyway, I guess it is time to start my NES Slim mod. :)

Excited, but I have 2 big questions, does it support all the special famicom chips(ie vrc6, sunsoft chip)? And does it have fds support?

I'm so glad I found my converter for my NES. I may go on a hunt for the special Gyromite cart and work there.

Really exited about this. Looks like it's past the proto stage, so we may see it here soon...just speculation, of course. I'm all in, though.

Will either play both Famicom / Nes roms on either system like the TurboEverdrive plays TG-16 / PCengine ?

The nes has no region lockout of that nature only issue is pin difference and nes not having pin on cart slot to support sound from enhancement chips. Also I would imagine converter has to have nes security chip to work on front loading nes. If you have top loader you should be fine.

Looking forward to hearing specs, not sure if I'll bite at first availability only cuz I've still got my EDv1 and ED64v1 sittin around that both saw a hardware revision

Lots of functionality to catch up to the PP, which I own, but great to see Krikzz is still inventing!

You'll have to wait on KRIKzz to post details to know the answers to many of these questions. He did say it's going to be a bit before it is ready. I'm impressed since he has been so busy. Who knew he'd have the time to cook up another project.

Nes is a big undertaking, to date no one has made one that works with every game. Plus dealing with pin differences and the enhancement chips is another big headache. I would imagine this is going to be a big seller.

Very much looking forward to this. Is there really a point to making an NES version? Can't you just use an adapter like some of the early NES carts had? Like put the famicom everdrive + adapter into an NES shell? Then you wouldn't have to worry about making 2 different versions...
