LaserActive Windows is driving me insane

Where'd the techsupport forum go? Anyways

HOW MUCH is it driving me insane?

To the point where I'm seriously saying fuck you billyboy I'm installing Ubuntu.

SO Here is the history of my windows 7 problems I had a computer repair place install windows 7 ultimate for me, this however resulted in blue screens until I removed some things they installed this lasted a good year or until some malware infected my system so I did an install and this install lasted about 10 months it was probably the best install I had but eventually windows corrupted and I had to do the install dance all over agian then a few days ago I downloaded a Mugen game and un raring would freeze up windows eventually causing windows Explorer to go haywire and more ram being used than I was used to.

SO I do the install dance again wednesday Here's where it's starting to piss me off.

last install Daemount tools, Microsoft Security Essentials, Video drivers for my graphics card and my Audio driver all that running at once = 1 gig of memory used

This current install- AVG (becuase it's leaner I've been told) My Audio Driver and windows 7 SP1 (the previous install was not using it)- 1gig of memory + 100 MB sometimes 200mb I can get it down to 800mb being used total by transferring large amounts of date between my Computer Hard Driver and my external hard drive and hibernation kills some of these processes but eventually My Computer will not go into hibernation and.........the over ram begins again.

So I'm at a loss I don't know if something left over from the last install snuck into this one. if I botched this new install, if it's a hardware problem I just have no idea.

YES windows 7 is running smoothly with NO issues other than this extra few MBs of ram being used BUT it's more than I'd like to run and Windows seems to take around 10-20 seconds more too boot up than it used it.

Help me out here what can be done about this or should I do the reinstall dance again?

I've narrowed it down to an SVCHost Process that if I kill it disables my internet and changes my Windows 7 color scheme to basic (rather than Aero)

at least I think. I'm really not sure.

This post was useless. Do I realize that mine is also since all I am pointing out is how useless of a post that was? Yes, just not as much.

Must be a Dell. I've never seen so many driver/hardware problems in my life as with Dell stuff. HP is a close second.

How much RAM do you have? Why does it matter how much RAM the programs take up if your computer runs well otherwise?
And your added boot time can probably be attributed to AVG, which kinda sucks anyway - at the moment, MSE is most likely the best free anti-virus.

Considering you pay an apple product two or three times what it's actually worth, well, fortunately, your statement is true.

I've played the clean install dance on my lappy 4 times already. My secret is to keep the unneeded junk off. No extra programs. Just a straight clean install from a bootleg ISO image off the pirate bay ripped out to an external hard drive that I made bootable and installed home premium 64 bit with my official home premium product key. Then another "fake" product key and I have 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Haven't had any issues since. Desktop is factory install upped to Ultimate with same "product key" and 64 bit as well. ;P

i rarely use windows these days only when i absolutly have to, been using Linux for years and love it, i'd recommend "ultimate edition" and "black opal 64" both are based on ubuntu but are tweaked and full of general awesomeness and a great default themes and programs ultimate edition basically has everything you'd need.

4 gigs and if I have more than 1500mb of ram taken up my fan starts going crazy, and I use Firefox and Skype...two things not exactly known for being resource friendly.

When I woke up this morning and popped open my computer a nice brisk 900mb was being used. But this won't last I'm Sure

I'm not sure if it is AVG it's the same with MSE.

As much as I hate windows right now. I hate Apple even more. Hence why I brought up possibly jumping to Linux.

Provided there are Linux drivers for all my controller converters and my Real Arcade Pro VX SA

Yeah and there in lies my condumdrum. I have Microsoft Battered wife syndrome.

Even my XBOX was acting up last week. I installed Arkham City (from disc) I start it up and it locked up before the logo screen. Uninstalled it and ran from disc rather than Hard Drive and no lock ups.

Yeah Billyboy hasn't been good to me this week at all.

All bad things that happenned to you is due to a virus.

Just use Kaspersky and learn to not dowload shit from internet and you'll be safe.

What? The amount of RAM taken up doesn't have anything to do with your fan going crazy, unless it's because you're running some heavy application.

Of course it's not. How long have you been using an Apple computer? If you've been using one for more than 8 years, I can't see how you think their support is anywhere close to good.

It's quite normal to be sitting at 1.5GB RAM during standby with a browser open... I'm only running Steam along side it and that's what I have. Also take into account the amount of extensions you have in your browser.

If you're fan is rising up in speed, then do you have a motherboard application installed to control it, like EPU? Start up times, always slow down as your computer ages, there are services and all that to slow it down. Get CCleaner, and stopped 98% of apps from opening on Startup...

And about the RAM issue, yes Windows is hardcore crap. Right now I'm just using Chrome, iTunes, Skype, 3ds Max 9 and Photoshop CS4 and using 3,5 GB of memory. With less than 2 GB of RAM doing something else besides sitting in the desktop is a pain in the ass.
