Ss1 Recommendations for the Saturn's best-looking 2D games that are import friendly?

You may have noticed I've been asking a lot of Sega Saturn questions recently, that's because I recently discovered that the Saturn was originally intended to be a 2D powerhouse! I love 2D games, but I'd always known the Saturn as "that failed console with the crappy-looking 3D polygons"! I then saw that there were a lot of beautiful 2D games released only in Japan, which Sega in their infinite wisdom passed over for "crappy-looking 3D polygons" ;) Before I get a Saturn, I'd like to have a list of what 2D games I should be giving some attention to. I'm after good-looking 2D games that are playable if you don't know Japanese. I'll be studying Japanese next year, so I can probably move on to the less import-friendly games and use them as practice :D So far, I know of:
    • Sexy Parodious
    • Princess Crown
    • Sengoku Blade

    Welcome to paradise :P

You may want to watch Yakumos Saturn Shooting Special and Saturn Fighting Special, you'll find footage of all important titles of said genres in there.
In addition to shooters & fighters, try Mizubaku Daibouken, Dungeons & Dragons Collection, Tenchi o Kurau, Capcom Generation 2, 3, 4, Shinrei Jusatsushi Taroumaru, Nazomakaimura, Astal, Willy Wombat, Super Tempo and Guardian Heroes.

There are more JPN-exclusive gems such as the Laserdisc ports (Time Gal, Road Blast, Ninja Hayate, Thunderstorm, Braindead 13 and Strahl) and some obscure 3D titles that are worth playing.
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

Thanks for the suggestions ave! I think I've got a pretty good list, I had a friend recommend Silhouette Mirage, and it reminds me of Mischief Makers, and I loved that game :D

Give Super Tempo, Tryrush Deppy, Keio Yugekitai and Astal a try. All 4 are great platformers with amazing looking 2D, the first two are pretty expensive tho...

For shmups try Hyper Duel, Battle Garegga, Blast wind or Soukyougurentai.

Man, Japanese Saturn games are often crazy expensive on eBay. Got any recommendations on places to get them cheaper?

Best place is Yahoo auction japan (site is in japanese only tho), but you have to check everywhere online. Another solution is to get a modchip from Racketboy shop and try the backups before tracking down the originals of the games you really like. At least this is what I like to do.
