You can get the controller board in/out without removing the PSU
A backlight from a NDSi also works well and gives even light, no bright spots.
Any chance you could upload a picture of the inside of your MVS into AES shell?
Oh, so how did you hold the controller ports?
I saw a guy using acrylic for those. I made mine with iron and used screws from under the case to hold it.
Soldered with oxygen two bolts to hold the screws but I don't feel comfortable enough with the final result.
Very nice! I always thought the hardest part about the DC VGA mod was having to put it back together, but having the ports along the bottom like that gets round the problem nicely. What port are you using on the back of the Dreamcast? Looks like USB, but that doesn't have enough pins for video and audio...

That 3.0 connector is pretty genius, especially since it's slimmer than a VGA port thus saving space. I'm thinking about doing that instead of doing it the usual way now.
So that last pin connects the circuit needed to put the Dreamcast into VGA mode? Very nice.
