    Does anyone know this game?

    Hey Everyone,

I seem to recall this side ways shooter game where a boss was a woman on her side and she shot stuff at you (It's not Parodius). I think the north american version had the woman's face changed to a skeleton for censoring. Probably a PC Engine game. Does anyone recall what the name of this game was?

I'm not too sure, but perhaps this might be of help?

Ah, probably not. I really only remember those points listed above from my childhood. I can't recall anything else. I think the shooter was ghost themed, hence the reason why they changed the womans face to a skull in North America. Maybe the game was for the SNES? Beats me. I can't recall any more. I just know the PCE has more shooters than most systems of that age.

You known this rings a bell with me. Hmm, I do remember this game and yes I think it was on the SNES. What was it called?

That does sound like Cotton 100% for the Super Famicom and there is a female boss character in this game. But I don't know if that's the game you mean because there's no American version of it...
I did some research though and it seems like they changed a skeleton type boss into a doll to make the graveyard stage cuter. However, this was not due to censorship but because they revised the original Cotton for the SFC.
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

Ah, I can't really find pictures or videos of the bosses. But I think this is close, but no cigar. The boss I'm thinking of would be this lady sitting on her side (Or just sitting with legs pointed to the left), in a greenish(?) looking nighgown (The kind that ghosts usually wear) with a finger pointing at you. And in the Japanese version her face was pretty, but in the international version her face was changed to a skull since I assume shooting women isn't an image marketing people wanted?

EDIT: It would be a left to right shooter, just to clarify. I think the lady might actually be in some kind of Japanese robe. My memory is kind of hazy, but the color I remember was a kind of green. It's too bad it wasn't paradious because it seems to have exactly what I'm thinking of.

I KNOW!! It was Run Saber! I'm sure of it! Right, I'm off to find the images now.

    EDIT:

Yep, it was Run Saber on the SFC, SNES. I love this game.

In that image it talks about a prototype but in my Japanese game the woman is a woman. I guess the iamge is talking about a US proto which in my opinion isn't a prototype since it's just the Japanese game code :)

Wouldn't Japanese be a proto or bootleg? I don't recall this game officially releasing in Japan.

OK, anyone remember a PC game from the very late 90s/early 2000s where you could create your own superhero? I thought it was Freedom Force but apparently not, and it's probably not City of Heroes either since that was an MMO. It's possible the game never existed, and was just some confused mix of those two games I had in my head.

That's news to me. I'd take a hard look at the game's authenticity. Though language barrier keeps me from detailed info, several Japanese sites appear to suggest there isn't Run Raber for Super Famicom.

I was reading that it was planned but got canceled. Very unusual, Hori and Atlus would NEVER make a game and NOT release in Japan, yet they did. I would love to hear why it was canceled.
Edit: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/show...r-review-is-up Someone over there thought he had a JP cart too, except it wasn't.

Is there any youtube footage of the prototype? I noted the caption says animation was intact and I'm curious as to how the boss was animated before the changeover.

Has that prototype leaked? Or is it just the PAL version with an NTSC CIC chip?

It's a Japanese cart so I guess it's NTSC. I've never owned a PAL SNES ever in my life even though I lived in the UK until 1998. All my consoles where Japanese apart from my Master System which was PAL. Same with my Brother. He had a JPN N64, Mega Drive & Mega CD as well as other stuff.

Before the days of the Internet and the only way to play and copy SNES ROMS was with Magicoms, there were many many betas that have now vanished. I have 4 different builds of Star Fox 2 on floppies back in the UK for example. Also this beta version of Run Saber and beta versions of many other games. Including "Shitty Batman" that one member here bought the ROM of. We were playing this 15 or more years ago. In total there's close to 1000 HD floppy Discs in my parents UK home full of SFC / SNES stuff including many rare betas which have just seemed to have vanished.

It seems with the advent of ROM sites, many betas, demos and early samples of code have just vanished since most of these ROM sites host the same sets. There are some odd thinks up on the ROM sites though such as a SNES version of Mick & Mac Global Gladiators with the "NCP" name on the game. This is a version that a few of use made many many years ago by editing the game hex on a 486 PC. Even a text hack of Battle Masters for the SNES that I made called Bubblegum Crisis Masters made it on to one ROM site, hahaha. This was years ago though. Now ROM sites host plain old ROMs. No intros, no cracktros, no training screens. Oh, how I miss all of that stuff.

I just hack n' slashed that lady the other day! (I have the official NTSC version) Had I known someone was looking for footage, I'd have recorded it. CURSES!

I was just thinking perhaps, if Run Saber was not 50hz optimized (since it'd be too obvious then), that common bootlegs may be using the PAL final as their source.
