I can't tell if I'm seeing different graphics or if it's just because the colors are more vibrant looking in the TV shots, and also less stretched feeling.

But it sounds like you got a good deal. I remember you saying in the sales thread it was dated one month before final, so I wasn't expecting much. Guess I should be less cynical of late dated protos :)

You musst mistake something. I never say it was dated one month before final?

The differents are big. The last two picture are the same dungeon. In the Final version Maxim has a bow and sword. In the proto you go complete different way without an bow.
In the Final Version you have a skill "GUT" in proto "FAI". You also start with 50 elixier, and the difficult is much higher as in the Final version. Playtime on the proto also show seconds.
And of corse the worldmap is complete different. Fighting animation, menue options...
Thats what i see in the first 5 min off the game.

All shots are from same positions. I will post more better pictures when i got my backup unit next week.

Oops, I got you mixed up with someone else in that DreamTR thread that got a proto that was dated a month before release. My mistake.

    Thanks for sharing, btw!

there are many different details the graphics. Cool buy. Maybe there are some extra areas? One thing though, why are you playing it stretched in to wide screen, YUCK!!! 4:3 TV Shows and games should be played in that. Or at least in my house they are.

Sorry for the quality! I get next week my backup unit. I will post more better quality pics soon.
After playing 2 hours of the proto i found so much differents. Will be a big project showing them all. But i give it a try.

And yes Yakumo, many different locations!

I have no idea what date this proto had:

Anyone an idea what "Tamco" means? Japanese Company? Taito employee?

first hours of playing the game show so many differents... I plan launching a media wiki or something for the game. Love playing it...
Any dungeon is different, story, items...
For me as old SNES freak its like a new Lufia.
I never seen a proto (RPG) like this for snes.

It certainly seems to be very unique! What's more is that typically prototype games get less incomplete the further they go on, it will be interesting to see where this prototype ends!

Well 3x 8Mbit eproms, will be complete. But i think taito change the complete game after this. I will try to get any different. No idea why, but this Lufia is complete different!
First bossfights never seen in retail version ^^.

Great find Jackhead, looking forward for your release and additional information on it's differences with the commercial game.
The production of silence in art is an utopian enterprise.
If we disregard the alchimie du verbe, traditional language cannot capture the essence of what we attempt.
It possesses utility only so far as it can construct boundaries. Forgive me, but I truly believe that music encompasses more, not stumbling in logic and formality.

It's a shame this game is in Japanese! If so much of the game is different to final who knows how much of the script is different.

You know as soon as a dump hits the net half a dozen translation projects will sprout up ;*)

This is INCREDIBLE! I loved playing Lufia II growing up... still have my copy of it. I certainly look forward to your dumping of the ROM so I can play it myself! Keep it safe, now.
