Indeed it does! But still bad. Doesn't Oz have RGB somewhat easily available?

Guys, composite on a shit CRT is way worse than LED TV with RGB. I can tell you that's true for sure by showing you my Mega Drive or Saturn running on a LED screen. Mind you, it isn't some shitty cheap LED so that would help a lot.

Now RGB on a good CRT is a whole different level. Ah, how I miss that.

RGB on an LCD/LED is still shit. I tried it with several retro consoles (PC-Engine, MD, SAT, DC), it all looked very bad. There's just something missing... not sure what... OH WAIT, scanlines. That's why it looks like foamy dog shit on HDTVs regardless of brand/filters or anything :P

Only way to change it is a setup of XRGBs and enhancers, but I don't know anything about that.
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

If he's referring to Japanese TVs, that might be an explanation.

You must have a poor LCD/LED screen then. Even if it's a Japanese make that doesn't mean it's a good screen since they use different standards across the world. Yeah, missing scan lines is an issue but an XRGB can add them. Just take a look at my Mega Drive running via RGB on a good LED screen with no XRGB. No way can you say that looks shit.

I'm not saying CRTs are shit, a quality CRT with RGB is fantastic. It's also what I grew up playing games in so I know the score when it comes to RGB but Saying a LED/LCD is flat out shit is wrong when todays quality screens do a very good job with retro RGB. They do need to build in a scanline generator though in to modern screens.

The only two items I would spend heavy on are a working Supergrafx power console and any proto's or demo's for Sqoon.

Due to space I donated my last widescreen CRT to my friend who needed an upgrade. Vintage systems look ok on my gf's LCD, atleast for short periods of time. I have a few Commodore monitors lying around for testing and temporary game setups.

Hm just curious, how much money people like Assembler spend on videogame items per year? I always believed that all of those who collect ps1/ps2/ps3 rare builds/unreleased games spend like 10 000$-20 000$ per year and spend a lots of time trying to dig them up. All of those prototype games/rare models of dev kits - it should take a lot of money.
Just curious what you will say me about this.

I play all my games on a NEC MultiSync XM29+ RGB monitor (CRT), with straight RGB through SCART into BNC. I would take that any day over any set up, until I see something with my own eyes that can look better than that monitor can. I am interested in investing in the hardware (XRGB) and such and going the LCD route with the options now days. But I really have no reason to unless this RGB monitor dies, and I still think in the end the RGB monitor will look slightly better. Plus, it just has that classic CRT feel.

i mainly use CRT just a cause of the nostalgia factor, Light guns and clearer picture with Composite. makes me feel like im a kid again sitting in front of a old glass CRT. the only CRTs ive seen with Component Inputs (RGB) are flat screen style, not fun for people that love to use light guns. CRT's look great with Composite not so much on a Flat Screen HDTV. i can see RGB (Component) looking great on flat screens though.

    @Yakumo
I can't lie it does look great on Flat screen wont argue with you there.

I remain perpetually jealous of people with a collection like yours, ASSEMbler :P

Maybe it's hoping for a bit much, but I'd love to see a dump of this game finally, or even a reproduction.

And for discussing how much people would pay for games, I'd definitely be willing to pay a fair amount for an interesting enough proto of a game I have an interest in. And if there's ever an MVS flashcart, I know I'll be getting one of these http://www.analogueinteractive.com/productintro1.php

Just one simple question. Why does approximately every second thread here end up in a discussion about what screens are the best after 2 pages?

Gawd...let everyone use what they think is best.

I am pretty sure that will turn some against me, but: Stop discussing that, please. Just get out and actually do something useful. No matter what. Sorry to say, but I am sick of that discussion.
Yes, I myself couldn't care less about graphics, image quality and whatnot else.

Next time you visit the United States, you'll understand. Other countries like us were shafted that bad by TV makers.

That works for religion, but technology is based on facts and knowledge. RGB is the best for low resolution images because that was its whole purpose. It's not a matter of belief... like driving a car at 50km/h in 1st gear is not a matter of belief either. It's just plain stupid.

Just get out and actually do something useful.
Point taken, I'll go out help old ladies over the street and plant trees once I'm done here! :D

Let's take that in another direction, sure always driving in 1st is plain stupid.
BUT, do you need a 500 HP car if you are fine with 50 HP? Well, I don't. In terms of a TV, of course :P

Sure, go ahead and help old ladies and plant trees :)

Yeah but "fine with" does not describe the US situation. "hideous" is more apt. NTSC's outdated color encoding on top of composite artifacts, worse with consoles and TVs that poorly encode/decode. Connect a US model Sega Genesis using its included composite lead to a US LCD. I think you'll change tune real fast.

Maybe once you hit your 1 year mark here people will take that to heart.
