Thread: Custom Boot Animation.

  1. #1

    Logo Xbox01 Custom Boot Animation.

Hey guys. So this is kind of a legit development question. I have a RGH'd Falcon running Fusion 1.09.

If you use Fusion, you know it has a custom boot animation. But I think it's actually a trick.
I think they disable the factory boot animation somehow. Possibly just turn off video output for X seconds?
Then I believe it loads a .xex that is just the fusion animation/video, and then that .xex loads xshell.xex or whatever you specify.

Could anyone help me out with how to make a .xex that replaces this one?
If my above theory is wrong, please enlighten me. I just wanna learn.
I have years of experience with C/C++, Java, etc. But I've never done any console work, aside from Halo2 modding.

I have all the necessary software, on both the console and PC side of things. Thanks!

Fallen93 is who your gonna want to ask about it he reversed that. I thought they were going to let fusion users have custom boot anims, and from what I understand the one that fusion includes is a video.

I believe custom videos is intended on a future release

Hmm, I see. So if I understand ddxcb, the boot animation is just a .xex that does it's thing then loads a different .xex. Interesting.
On the xbox1 wasn't it a BIOS thing? I appreciate the responses. :)

No Bootanim.xex is loaded then i think xam loads then the dash.xex loads.

Of course there is more loaded, but i extracted the sound using the s**.

I've seen the boot logo with changed color before, I'm pretty sure grim made the 360 ball model into a dick at some point too. It had random ass shaders of the 360 ball, but it was funny as hell.

leo is right though, he's the only one I know to have really looked into it much. Best bet is hoping he drops a post in this thread.

Welp, i looked into this and found that the file inside the custom bootanim.xex is called movie.Q
hope this helped in some way.

Really? That's interesting. I've never heard of the .Q file extension. I could see it being bink or something of the sort. Time to research this new file type!! Thank you. ^.^

How do you open .xex's? Or "look into" them?
I thought a .xex was basically the same as .exe in that it's compiled and executable. How are you decompiling them? If that's what you're doing...

Just like exe files they can contain included files like icons and png's, movies or large blops of plain text. it depends on how the compiler stored the info inside. In this case one can use a xextool to view/extract info/data.

I also used it to find other xex files within a xex file... I think the extension was mixed up because it was not able to run, but after i got the resource, the xbox told me it was unable to run on that version of dash (Believe me, I mixed up some compiler stuff) anyway, try the link and play a litle with it on different xex files :D

It's simple, I know bit ddxcb, it is a kind of boot animation which engages with .xex, actually .xex is kind of weird it runs programs and then loads different .xex, its interesting actually but little complex.

install RGLoader - you can just put a WMV in the root of the HDD for the boot anim
