Damn, I forgot about the Aliens mod, or "total conversion" as they were called back then, of Doom.

Actually i wasn't talking about the Aliens TC, but of a wad that only have sound effects. So you can play regular Doom / Doom 2 with sounds / voices from Aliens.

The first Alien game I played was on the Apple //e, it was based on Aliens. You have to land the ship, and I can't remember the rest, except for at the end of the game you get to fight the queen like in the movie.

I'm with you. Fincher is a better director than Scott or Cameron. He was on a leash, too.

I always liked look and mood of Alien 3, but it was certainly flawed.
The Extended version is much better than the theatrical release and fixes many issues.
The Making of video on the Alien Anthology makes it even more impressive, seen how little time and how little choice Fincher had.

BTW, my favorite Aliens game is AvP by Capcom. Actually beat it in the arcades with some friends. Spent 2-3 bucks each.

got the special edition on pre-order, to be fair its one of the better ones i have seen as it seems you actually get stuff for your money

game looks great, this is and Resident Evil 6 are gonna keep me entertained i reckon, until GTA5 next year!

p.s. go and see Prometheus if you get a chance, really good film, doesn't really have the xeno's in but has a lot of surprises etc.

i wasnt impressed with Prometheus, it seemed very rushed and possibly cut to pieces by the studio, not his best work by far, still a quality show worth seeing.

No way, Alien, Blade Runner, Aliens and Terminator 1 & 2 are better than anything Fincher has ever done. Although Fight Club is impressive, since he managed to make a pretty good movie out of an awful book by a hack writer.

I started watching Alien 3. I turned it off as soon as the fire started on the ship. Alien 3 takes Aliens pulls it's pants down and shits all over it. Why bother saving everyone if they're just going to DIE IN THE NEXT MOVE!

That's exactly why the 3rd movie is great, there is no happy ending in the alien universe.

    Exactly!

New Director wants to do things his own way i think they did a good job of keeping with the "aliens" universe and at least attempted to fit aliens in, also Carrie Henn who was 10 in aliens(1986) would have been alot older and wouldnt have been able to fit into the story really in 1993. and replacing the actors never goes down well.

Give it a chance its a good watch, hard to beat the 1st 2 movies, but Fincher did an excellent job, couldnt really top James Cameron done with Aliens, watch both the original release and then then directors cut(whole different movie and 30 mins longer).

also if you watch alien resurection at the end of the credits it tells you to "PLAY THE VIDEOGAME FROM FOX INTERACTIVE" i think was for PS1 had it back in the day but didnt play it much.

compared with sequals to Robocop and Starship troopers (Paul Verhoven) no-one could top the originals

"No happy ending" is a pretty stupid reason to kill off two characters that the last movie spent a lot of time building in the first few minutes of the new movie, and to top it all off, it all happens off-screen. Although you can partly blame that on the nightmare that was the production of Alien 3, it was still probably the worst possible way to handle that. Comparing Alien 3 to the Robocop and Starship Troopers sequels isn't really appropriate, since for the former the studio missed the point of Robocop and wanted to turn him into a cool action hero with gadgets for all the kids to buy (with the added bonus of having Robocop 2's original script be written by the very first appearance of Crazy/Shitty Frank Miller), and latter's sequels were made with a really low budget and again missed the point of the original. Of course, it could also be that Verhoeven is pretty great.

lol i agree hes damn good at what he does as are Cameron and Scott, and Fincher although a good director couldnt have topped the original Alien or Aliens, but still done a good job even with the issues he faced. i'd still recommend watching Alien 3 (both directors cut and theatrical release).

i've had Alien 3 game for the MegaDrive for a long time and havnt cleared it yet haha, i will one of these days as its a decent platform shooter

edit: also Alien franchise toys were all over the place for pretty much all the movies i had some when i was young lol Mattel ones Based on Aliens
