This place is not anyone's personal flea market. And quite frankly I don't care if raising the limit 150 posts "making it harder for people to sell their goods". If they care about this place beyond making a buck they will stick around long enough to make that 200 post limit go by fast. Anyone whose motivation is to use this place, like I said, as a personal flea market does not get my respect.

    Making this place invitation only is a great way to kill it off fast. We've had plenty of regulars join in the last 2 years it isn't funny and if it was invite only we'd probably not have seen even 1/4 of that.
    I agree raising it to 200 is not really far for the people that read this site everyday and are a bit Anti Social , On most the Forums I use I am more of a lurker than a speaker. I tend to try and read up as much as I can before I ask questions or throw my 2 cents in. Making the site private and invite only is another theory and I think would be great , but on the other hand if someone has something special to offer , being knowledge or something rare and does not have an invite or know any other way to find one then it's either lost or on ebay. But hey to each his own.

    Not my call but personally I'd more prefer there to be a time restriction then post count. So someone would have to be an active member of the forum for 1-2 months before they are allowed to sell. Anybody looking for a quick buck will look else where. If it's a scammer and they're caught the amount of time it will take for a new account to be ok to sell would take too much of their time.

    High post count in my opinion will just lead to more spamming then reducing it.

    They already do for 50 posts, so I also agree with the time restriction suggestion.

    Time restriction is better.

    He got to 50 posts and opened his FS thread:
    http://www.assemblergames.com/forums...tress-complete
    He did post for 3 weeks apparently... not sure if anything useful.

    My memory is not very good, but IIRC the first person I reported for multi-posting-to-be-able-to-sell was selling that same item... though I may be wrong.

    I'll let the mods do the judging.

    Agree with the time restriction instead of posts limit. Spammers are less likely to waste their time waiting and will move on to other forums.

    I don't want to make it forbidding. I would say 30 days and 50 posts minimum? Does it seem to much?

    That seems fair to me. I'm definitely of the opinion that time limits would be more effective than simply post count at combating spam/useless posting.

    A time limit between posts for new users might help, or posts per hour. Something like that. Be able to catch spambots before they can make too many posts.

    @ASSEMbler
    I think that's fair and would definitely help.
    Lum's suggestion sounds good against spambots as well :)
