If it has PS2 backwards compatibility I am sold. Other than that.... Meh.

That thing looks bigger than the current Slim. I have a Slim, and I love it. It's extremely quiet (much quieter than my 360), and I've never had any hardware problems with it (unlike either of the 360 systems I've owned). I think it's a pretty attractive console, too.

I really appreciate that Sony tries to reduce the size of the system again. The new system does likely consume less power and might be available for a cheaper price. Btw, The actual Slim model isn't slim imo.

If those pics are genuine then damn, that is one ugly console. Does it really cost much more to have a smooth glossy finish than a matte ridged one? Top loading is also horrible, hate it on my slim ps2. Kudos for reduced size. energy consumption and most likely reduced price though.

I wonder whether they are going to bundle it with a HDMI/component cable. I say that because no matter what PS I've bought in the past you always have to purchase extra damn cables because Sony only include RCA cables w/scart adapter. That was just about acceptable in PS2 era, but for next gen? No. Major bugbear of mine is having to spend on extra cables/memory cards, over-priced peripherals etc.

Alot of people are saying this is just a rejected design for the slim that sony didn't go with

I wouldn't mind a top loading drive if it were sturdy like the PlayStation's, Saturn's or Gamecube's. But this is probably just as cheap and flimsy as the PS2 slim. :/ When it comes to the shell design, Sony started losing their touch after the first PlayStation.

Looks horrible; though I prefer top-loading drive better than the current slot-loading.
