Nintendo 64 PAL/NTSC convertor question

I have a NTSC N64 RGB modded, and i have a generic PAL/NTSC convertor that i use to play PAL games( i am in PAL territory, so most of the games i have are PAL).However, some games don't work even if i use the NTSC game with the correct CIC in the convertor, for example Paper Mario and Excitebike 64.They just give me a black screen.
So i was wandering, is this the convertor's fault, are there better ones out there, like they were on SNES, or some of the games just won't play at all?

its due to the fact that they both have extensive region checks, the worst game about region checks is taz express.

So i shouldnt bother trying these games with other convertors?

Damn, i guess i should start looking for a french N64.
