    Resident Evil 6 Demo

Anyone else played it yet? I'm torn personally. Leon's scenario did a good job of creating an atmosphere, almost like a horror game! It had zombies too, like a Resident Evil game! Even though you barely fight any, the few you do put up a good enough show to actually feel like a threat, but without feeling like they aren't zombies anymore. I also very nearly ran out of ammo, so if that holds then hurrah they've brought survival horror back to a survival horror franchise! Chris' scenario was just RE6 again, running and gunning, no zombies, just Plagas things or whatever the heck they're called now, pure action, no horror, dull dull dull. I couldn't even start Jake's scenario, couldn't figure out how to make him move his ass and run, i'm sure i'm missing something obvious there. Although i'm not sure how i feel about the Terminator meets Executioner like dude.

So, it seems like they've brought the old school survival horror feel back for one scenario, and the dull (in my opinion) action stuff for the RE4/5 lovers for another. That could be a smart move, but it could also mean short playtime and a disjointed story. I haven't really been paying attention to this, i'm in the camp of fans that despise RE4/5 and i figured this was going to be more of the same, so i was pleasantly surprised with Leons scenario. Still not sure i care enough to actually pick it up though. What's your opinion?

Some people will call me crazy, but Resident Evil must go back to a slower pace kind of game. Crappy controls aside, i still think the first three games were the best (haven't played RE:Remake or Zero on GC).

I won't even bother downloading RE6 Demo. Every single promovideo i've seen make it looks like a michael bay movie meets gears of war kind of game.

Well see that's what i think too, and the Leon Scenario of RE6 looks like it's going to deliver that. In the demo it does anyway, it's a slow build of tension and atmosphere. If you remember the original canceled version of RE4 with the mansion, it's kind of like that with zombies instead of ghostly spirits. I haven't seen the trailers myself, like i said i haven't been bothered with the series after RE4 and 5, but i figured i should at least try it before i judged it and i'm glad i did.

Resident Evil 1 and 2 were the best. Still scary now even. I love it.

The Resident Evil 6 DEMO was alright. I don't know what it is, but it isn't scary. I don't know what it is.

I thought the controls sucked ass, like a wannabe, dime a dozen third person shooter. The camera also sucked ass, but that's only because the character takes up half the fucking screen.

I liked how the Leon campaign at least tried to be a survival horror game. The atmosphere tried to be scary, and in a couple parts, it almost was. I think having the other person (forgot her name) kind of ruined the atmosphere though. I think it's more scary when you're all alone, in some dark mansion/police station/train/plane/boat/whatever and have no one to rely on but yourself. If zombies start to corner you and you're low on ammo, you have no one to fall back on for help.

    Chris' campaign? Yawn, next.

Oddly enough, I had the most fun playing Jake's campaign. Don't know who the hell he is or the woman that was with him, but I liked the chemistry I saw between them and could see myself enjoying a game focusing on them. But that game better not be called Resident Evil.

Bottom line? Swing and a miss. Try again, Capcom.

I agree about the partner thing, i wish they would stop that idea. It kinda almost worked in RE0, but i still prefer having 2 main characters who split up. If for nothing else, having to constantly look after someone gets tedious, even if they can defend themselves. The girl with Jake is Sherry from RE2, all grown up! How did you get past the opening of Jakes section by the way? I tried running, holding A, tapping A, just moved slow as all heck and got squished. Gave up after a few tries, really irritating that it throws you back to the main menu and you have to wait for it to load all over again.

Yeah, that happened to me a few times as well. I hate when demo's start off by making you run for your life, without making it clear how exactly you're supposed to do it. Wouldn't have been such a pain if it didn't make you restart from the main menu. As for what I did, I um... forgot. I think you are supposed to press and hold a, and hold down on the analog stick. When an object appears, he or she will automatically jump over it.

No, at least not in the demo. Wouldn't be surprised if she makes an appearance in Leon's campaign once the game releases.

    How are the zombies ?
They are slow like the ancients or fast like the newest?

People have ripped the demo apart and found what looks like an Ada scenario, with a partner labeled as "Helper" in the files. Personally, i'd say it's probably very likely there will be an Ada scenario but you can bet it'll be DLC rather than the old school unlockable type.

The zombies are kind of a mix from what little there is. It seems like the further away they are they just shuffle, but the closer they get the more they act along the Crimson Head kind of lines. However it looks like zombies are only going to be in Leons scenario.

Partner thing sucks single player - but its great when playing with friends.

This is why I liked RE5

The new build of the Leon campaign they're showing at the Comic-Con show has a pretty oldschool vibe about it and the AI doesn't seem as intrusive this time.

Do you feel the horror like the old ones?

In Leons scenario, yes the demo did create a good atmosphere of tension similar to REmake.

I agree, it felt REmake but there wasn't enough action to my taste for the purpose of the demo ;) I'll buy the game although I am a bit more puzzled by the other 2 scenarios...
