Help me identify this Dreamcast region mod!

I got a killer deal on a region modded Japanese dreamcast on ebay recently and have no info on what this chip is. It doesn't look like any of the region modding tutorials I've seen before. Also, there are no external switches on this mod. It plays American games, but I don't have any Japanese games to test. Anyways here are some pics:

It's an older version of the modchip install, nothing special.

NCS began selling the 26-wire mod chip kits for self installation during the week of January 17,
2000. A revised 5-wire mod chip kit was released on February 7, 2000 through the NCS on-line
store located at http://hh141.hiphip.com. The 5-wire mod chip replaced the 26-wire mod chip
and the preliminary 6-wire version. The most recent mod-chip revision requires only 4-wire
connections from chip to DC.

Got that exact same chip in a Dreamcast myself off of eBay last week. Thanks for posting that as now I know.

Then maybe you should try if it works using the 4 wire install?

No mine doesn't work re-wired as I tried but it is an older one on a beard board.

Oh yes, the pointless modchip :P mine is region modded too but I bought it from a local store.

Don't know what dreamcast modchip I've got. US/JP play.
Though never tested PAL, much like my Gamecube.

Someday this dreamcast will need repair. Its load fans and disc access is annoying.
