Shemnue the only thing left we're waiting on sega to exploit?

Later this month Sony Japan is finally getting on the PS2 Digital bandwagon and one of the first games will be Sega Ages Dragon Force, then the next two months will bring Sega Ages Die Hard/Dynamite Dekka and Sega Ages Gunstar Heroes.

Yes those are awesome too, however it SUCKS that they FORCE a background image when your on 16:9, I rather see a black background that doesn't distract and the 4:3 image nicely in the center of that. (the original Streets of Rage 2 / SEGA Vintage Collection-version did had the 'black background' option)

It's horribly ironic that all the good things that Sega does nowadays are just their old games over again...

Sega is not the only company guilty of that.

    God of War HD Collection
    Team ICO HD Collection
    Sly Cooper HD Collection
    Splinter Cell HD Collection
    Prince of Persia HD Collection
    Beyond Good & Evil HD
    Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
    Devil May Cry HD Collection
    Silent Hill HD Collection
Zone of the Enders HD Collection
Final Fantasy X HD Remaster (It's not a remake. Don't be fooled.)

And that's just off the top of my head. Instead of releasing new games, it's much easier for companies to re-release games that have already been made. It's a quick and easy buck, and a great way to test the waters and see if a particular series is still relevant and sells. With the high demand Sega has been getting, they'd be fools not to eventually release a Shenmue HD collection.

Burn-in. Believe me, I learned that the hard way (on my LCD, believe it or not). Sega is doing you a favor.

It's better to make the games have true widescreen, but that can't really be done with older 2d games. As long as the background isn't animated, I don't see how it can be distracting. But I guess it wouldn't kill them give an option for a black background for people that hate it.

Unlike Sega, those companies still make good games as well.

I don't see a problem on re-releasing games in HD. It lets people that never played these games the opportunity to try some classics. Of course there's cash-in opportunities, but just avoid those. There's a big difference between good HD remasters and terrible ones.

    Some good ones:
    GOW Collection Vol.1 : http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/go...ection-article
GOW Collection Vol.2 (Those games were PSP only) : http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...-tech-analysis
    MGS Collection: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...ear-remastered
ICO / Shadow of the Colossus: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...ps3-comparison AND http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...-hd-collection
    Devil May Cry: http://www.destructoid.com/review-de...n-225441.phtml
Prince of Persia HD Trilogy: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...trilogy-review
    Sly Trilogy: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...trilogy-review

    The bad ones:
    Silent Hill HD : http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...silent-hill-hd AND http://www.destructoid.com/review-si...n-224478.phtml
    Splinter Cell Collection: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...s-hd-remasters
    Resident Evil 4 HD: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...il-4-hd-review
Resident Evil Code Veronica HD: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...eronica-review

I'll happily buy Zone of The Enders HD if it ends up being a good remaster.

I'm not against HD remastering old games. Sorry if my post came across that way. But let's be real, it's an easy way for them to make money with much less effort compared to if they were to make a new game from scratch.

It's kind of like how Nintendo released the Super Mario All-Star collection on the Wii. The only difference there is that Nintendo literally changed nothing from the SNES version and it took them zero effort to make. All to make a quick buck off of Nintendo and Mario fans. At least the HD collections took SOME effort to make and added new features like true widescreen and improved textures (in most cases).

I know what you are trying to say. But if you read Digital Foundry analysis of both GOW Collection Vol.2 and ICO/Shadow of The Colossus you'll see how much work they took to be remastered in HD.

Both games in Gow Collection Vol.2 were 480x272 on PSP and now run on 1920x1080 on the PS3. Ico for example used to run in 512x224 on the PS2. But it' way more than just upscale the resolution. Read the articles and you'll understand.

Silent Hill HD on the other hand is a mess. Unfinished code, no optimization or beta testing = cash-in by Konami. http://www.destructoid.com/silent-hi...e-228158.phtml

Personally, I'm a fan of HD remakes. As long as they don't ruin the original game.

All I want in life is Halo:CE HD with online multiplayer over Xbox Live.

Didn't that happen? The Anniversary Edition. MP is a carbon copy I guess.

Nights HD is day 1 for me, and ill probably get Marvel vs. Capcom Origin as well.

No, not really. The multiplayer, from what I understand, was just a map pack for Halo: Reach. And you could change game settings or whatever to make it feel like the first Halo.

It would be nice if they included Christmas Nights as well. It wouldn't take much more effort. I remember playing the same level over and over again so I could finally unlock Sonic level. It was the closest thing we would have to a 3D sonic game for a long time and it was magical!

Obviously Sega Ages version, but at least it includes the Saturn Original.

I STILL wish it was a physical release though. I'd buy it in an instant

ALSO: Maybe it does have Christmas Nights, because why else would it be called an HDCollection then? It's not a collection if it only includes Nights 1.

What? Square and Konami are pathetic when you look back at how great they were in the 90's.
