Thread: Hi from Turok2 PC Addicted in Tasmania

  1. #21
I'm waiting to see some turok 2 source code, too ;)

It's a pain digging through the binary turok 2 files to figure out structures and to modify them without crashing the game. But it takes so much time and trial and error, that it's no fun anymore.
Well, atleast we can replace weapons and items in the levels, and have found out a kind of border structure where which part (item table, models ..) is located, but no chance to move walls...
Creating a level editor for that is too much work for 3 people.. Atleast we have a texture editor, which rarely someone uses ;)

If anybody has found the source code or something helpful for turok2, please share that...

There seems to be more and more Turok fans signing up and showing interest in those data tapes. I like that.

But as I've said, there is no guarantee those tapes have a source code for Turok 2. Judging by the dates labeled on the tapes, it seems far more likely that the source for Turok 1 would be on them. Last I heard, ASSEMbler still doesn't have everything needed to dump the tapes. Maybe if he decides to respond to my PMs every once in a while, I might actually have relevant news and updates.

Assuming he still doesn't have everything he needs, maybe we could start a fundraiser to help him out. I brought it up months ago, but not many people seemed interested. capoff mentioned it again a few posts back, and now it seems like more people want to get these tapes dumped for a potential Turok 2 source code. It seems like a win-win to me. He has what we want, we help fund what he needs to dump it, and eventually he distributes it.

How many people here would be willing to help fund this should ASSEMbler give the OK?

EDIT: It seems I remembered wrong. Checking the Acclaim project section shows a thread about the tapes with the dates 1995-2004. The chances of a source for both games appears to be the about the same.

Also, I went ahead and PM'd ASSEMbler about this. Who knows, maybe I'll get a response it a couple months. ;)

I've been doing all I can the past few months to work something out with ASSEMbler but I've had no luck so far. Geist Force is finished as far as I can tell, but he's been busy with his new business and dealing with hurricane Sandy. I can't get a solid discussion with him because every time we begin to something with more priority comes up.

There is nothing to donate to at the moment. This will no doubt be expensive but we can't do anything until ASSEMbler decides he is ready to begin the project.
