Xbox03 What is a good SATA - PATA Adapter for xbox HDD?

so i bought a 750gb thinking it was ide but turns out it was sata (said ide when bought but now it says sata) and so i want it locked and transfered fine using chimp 2.4, but when i try it, it doesn't work. it seemed to switch to slave when i wanted it to when using chimp, but doesn't go to master when i try and set it to it.

so does anyone know a good adapter that works well with the xbox and can be switched to be used as a master? or just so the xbox thinks it is?

this is what i originally bought

Different SATA<->IDE bridge chips have varying compatibility rates that vary between HDDs and the device you have it plugged into. Its a fun game to find one that works. It also doesn't help if you're trying to do some sort of softmod as that introduces additional variables into the equation that will only cause frustration.

Which is why I stockpiled a bunch when I finally found one that worked. Haven't been able to figure out what bridge it uses or more of them anywhere.

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.

Just a FYI, don't even bother doing something like this without having a system that has a flashable BIOS and you have it already flashed with a LBA48 compatible bios.

Doing this on a 1.6 XBOX without a modchip in it is asking to have headaches. ;)

    +1

Looks like your stuck with several options

    1) Look for a modchip... Recommend a Xecuter 3. Very easy install and TONS of features and redundancies.

    2) Return hard drive, get the correct one... ST3750640A - Model # for correct Seagate HDD W/ ATA interface.

    3) Find another SATA to IDE adapter...Will be hit or miss as others mentioned
