    Great western HGA for review

The nice people at GWtrading are getting together one of their advanced models (not out yet) for me to evaluate and review.

The side by side comparison with the NOVA should be interesting.

The HGA supposedly supports conversion of arcade RGB right to VGA with minimal processing, so I'm excited.

So it has an upscan converter built in?

The best way of doing it is still xRGB... but that's expensive.

Lucky you! I'd love to get to review something like that!

You know, once you do this comparison, I think it would be the pefect thing to promote and link to around the web. I'm sure lots of people are curious about superguns...

I think it would also be cool if you did a review/comparision (three-way, perhaps?) of the AV7000 at some point too - if funds allow, that is. :-D

Now if a Sigma's in the picture it's already won. BTW, some people prefer the AV6000 to 7000 so it's probably necessary to do a review of ALL Sigma's units.

Why I wrote that the Japanese boxes weren't being compared. No comparison.

You can get sigmas in the US. Check out Neo-geo.com they have em over there sometimes. Still, they don't make them any more so they're getting harder to find.

Mak-JP has them, and I have an AV7000 if for some weird reason you're in Hawaii at some point.

Yes and no. If you are talking strictly about a well-built product that does what it does well, then fine, it's probably one of the best.

But if you are looking at the whole picture, then no. Price, availability, compatibility, shipping costs, etc should all be evaluated in the scenario. And in most of those categories the Sigma is not so fantastic. It's hard to justify the price of those bad boys, even if you can get one.

Quality and design are my biggest factors so they've won me over years ago (even though the unit's have rather strange designs.) If price is a factor, I think that they do pretty well. You get what you pay for from them; their product may be expensive but not much more than a Supernova and IMO their products far exceeds it in all aspects. I'm not saying though that nobody could surpass them, that could be done relatively easily but few have the ability to put out their own enclosures etc.
