commodore 312065-01 on mega-drive?

hi,

i would like to know if theres a way to use that mouse on the mega-drive?
the buttons semm to work somehow, but the actual mouse dose not, as it seems.

the right button seems to be UP, and the left a, c or start

so, is there something that can be done about it?

please excuse my ignorance, but i dont know anything about that topic.

I think there were some games which used a mouse maybe?
Art alive rings a bell but I could be completely deluded
On normal games no way it would work, if it's not designed for a mouse it won't work with one
If it doesn't work on games which use a mouse then I guess you're out of luck

Even if its hardware functions on a mega drive, the buttons might have a different layout. if so you'd need mega drive games with customizable controls or written to use this mouse.

I believe the mouse you're referring to is a Commodore 1351, which is actually for the C64 and C128. There's no way that would work, but there are two different mice that Sega put out. There are a few games on both the MD and Mega CD that take advantage of both mice, check out this list: http://segaretro.org/Sega_Mouse

It was a possibility that it would work as it was most likely just a serial mouse for the commodore and should sega's mouse happen to have been a standard serial mouse it would have been fine and dandy but i guess it wasn't

You could try the USA mega drive mouse. Might find it more comfortable I guess? Completely different shape than the real of the world.

The SEGA MegaMouse has the same communications protocol as the Saturn mouse... in fact, the Saturn mouse is just the MegaMouse with a different connector. It is completely incompatible with any other kind of mouse out. You could use other types of mice on the MD, but only with programs designed to work with those mice. MD games that support a mouse support a SEGA mouse and nothing else. So if you care to know how the MegaMouse works, read the Saturn direct IO section on the Saturn mouse... the MegaMouse on the MD is exactly the same, but using the MD port instead of the Saturn port. I used the Saturn docs when working on my MD mouse code.

Yeah only North America shared exterior for MD and Saturn mice.

Japan got a new design with same features. While for PAL the Saturn mouse was either rare or canceled.
