    Only recently the community has gained more access to it, without hacking. And it took protocols, algorithms and (gasp, ahem) keys to be extracted from the (gasp) PS3 before it was ever possible to be considered plausible ...

    And no, FMCB as it is used today is a hack/exploit.

    Right. I don't have a particular interest in modchips themselves. It's a means to an end. I wanted the protection gone so any compatible disc would boot direct and achieved exactly that.

    Exploits or swaps are supposed to serve in my favor when I choose to use them. Not be something I have to put up with due to limitations placed by Sony.
