Thread: Thieves World [N64]

    N64 Thieves World [N64]

Seems like Bit Studios (Riqa,Die Hard 64) had another N64 game that was canned.
Codenamed Thieves World it eventually was moved to "next-gen" systems (Xbox,PS2) and then morphed into the released Rogue Ops.
Too bad I couldn't find screenshots or artworks about this lost N64 project.

    * Midway/Kemco - 'Thieves World'/'Rogue Ops' (3rd person stealth game. Xbox, GC, PS2)
I spent 1.5 years working on Thieves World. It was later reworked and released as Rogue-Ops.
ART: Some particle effects. My surviving visual effects in the finished game are the laser planes and beams.
CODE: I worked on general gameplay code, some visual effects code and I designed and implemented mini-games.

    EDIT:
Official french Nintendo mag listed Rover and Revolver as coming games for N64.

Yeah, thank! Never heard of the other cancelled title before either.
    Neat concept, the ever-darkening world.

Mind you the the scan is talking about a project that very very likely was/morphed into Glover.

No idea what the "famous cartoon star" would have been though.

true, I'm sure it'd finally became glover. As glover is a game with 6 differents worlds, each accessible via the main hub. Plus it was made by hasbro.

Afaik parts of Riqa made it into RogueOps, maybe ThievesWorld was the project name for RogueOps? and "N64" is a typo.

Programmers etc. tend to forget what platform some games were for :-)

Surprisingly I found a section for it still up on IGN's old N64 hub.

" Initially unveiled via a few screenshots, this ill-fated project was quickly disowned by publisher Fox (most likely due to licensing conflicts) and quietly cancelled."

There were 2 articles posted but they were just general preview hyper. supposedly had a slated release for "early 2000".

Haven't stumbled upon any screens yet but ill keep looking. Can't be anything too detailed I imagine , either fake or non-existent in the first place.

EDIT: Yeah. Only things I managed to find were mislabeled...eh.

It's three years that I search in old mags for unreleased stuff and Die Hard 64 was on my radar for the most part of it.
No article to speak of or images to be found though.

Well shit, thanks for the heads up. I've realized at this point that anything that would exist for this, going on the very slim chance that it is playable in the first place, would be pretty...horrible. I'm scarred after Nakatomi Plaza and Vendetta. When Nakatomi first released on GCN an employee at local EB Games begged me not to buy it. It really took him a second assertion to take him seriously haha. At the time I hadn't seen any info on the game other than the cover.

Die Hard 64 probably turned into Die Hard Vendetta for Game Cube, Which was also developed by Bits Studios, funny, in a brazillian site called finalboss, the oldest new they have was from november/ december 2001, when screenshots from a magazine scan were leaked.
