DC Pad02 Uhhhh... don't now what to say...

I got bored and slapped this together in like 5 minutes. It's temporary. I just wanted to play my Dreamcast laying in bed and test my new screen out so this was born. Screen is drawing power from the Dreamcast 12V rail and audio is being piped to my laptop. Very lazy setup but then again I seem to have the nickname "the lazy gamer". who knows, this could become permanent if I get into case modding. controller with screen built in? Hmmm...

For those wondering, the game is Sonic Adventure 2. Using this screen I can see the scan lines in it.

Have you seen the GC mod with the controller + built in LCD? It was really cool, especially because *I think* he made a new controller cable with video support.

It was cool, and these mods always end up being fairly fun to screw with. Come to think of it, I've got a 480p 3.5" LCD sitting around...

I plan to but will need a good audio amp with volume control for this since the Dreamcast doesn't have one. Any recommendations?

    That's hilarious.

I was going to do something like this too, but with a PSone screen. Never finished it.........the controller is still sitting, with the PSone screen frame screwed to the MadCatz Dreamcast controller.

A cheap knock off Chinese 3.5" TFT backup camera screen from eBay for $20.

    Here's the specs:

    3.5 inch monitor
    LS-350B-L
    DC 12V
    Made in China
    6978012807097824

That's what I got. Very cheap and probably a pirate clone of something.

^ I plan to do that eventually since the screen on my Nomad sucks soooo badly.

I love it! Looks like the sort of thing I would try to do, then the screen would fall off and break somehow lol.

I did it on mine, looks infinitely better than the original screen, only downside is the screen i used cuts off after about 5 hours cuz of power, was expecting a lil bit more but oh well. I also did the camcorder batterypack mod

Wow, I had no idea you could do that. I should get a replacement screen for one of my Nomads then. The first one I ordered and had shipped from the US wasn't packed very well, and the screen got broken in transport. Not the plastic cover over the screen, the actual screen itself, apparently there's some sensitive spots on the outer shell that directly transfer force to the screen. I ended up buying another one, the broken one is still here not doing anything. I had no idea it was even possible to replace the screens with a modern panel.

the nomad has built in AV output, so basically you just tap power off the nomad and then run a wire from the LCD's Composite In to the Nomad's onboard Composite Out, very simple and works great! Theres a guy on bacterias site that will do it for you for $70, its a pretty simple mod though as long as the lcd you get fits properly (theres some variance in the overall design of the lcd+pcb setup). The hardest part for me was just lining the lcd up before gluing it into place. I still need to replace my Nomads external plastic covering over the screen tho

I really lucked out with the plastic cover on my second Nomad. The seller listed it as badly scratched up. When it arrived, I noticed a little while afterwards that the original plastic film had never been removed from the screen surface, and this is what had been scuffed up. When I peeled the screen film off, the plastic cover itself was absolutely pristine, not a single scratch on it. :)

Yup it's too bad we don't have a source of small rgb lcds. That'd be nicer yet. I can't say I've seen anything portable with scart, though I'm in america so I never will here.

The closest thing to an RGB LCD I can think of is the PS1 screen with the RGB mod done to it. But a 5" screen is still to large for some projects. I've searched the internet 'till it was upside down looking for 3.5" RGB LCD screens with no luck. I geuss we're SOL. Damnit.

A little late to be replying, but I made an audio amp with volume control a while back, and haven't used it since. It's breadboard, so don't expect something pretty/small, but it does the job.

If you're interested, PM me. If not, try eBay for smaller audio amps. They should have tons.
