SUPERXBOX: 1+TB custom crystal slim-box - LOTS of pics

So I got so caught up in collecting I didn't dare to cut up my consoles. But this week i got bored and figured why the hell not!

So here is most my build; I Started a mock-up with the a regular xbox case then used the XCM red case. I'm going for precision cuts and trying to a achive custom look, but nothing too wild.

Expected specs:

128MB Ram
750GB HDD & 320GB HDD for a total of 1.07 TB!
Xecuter3 CE w/ Xecuter IR receiver
Debug bios and X3 Bios
Custom Intake fan
Integrated HDD switch
wireless integration?

It all started with an carefull buy on Ebay. 37$ shipped for a xbox that was almost brand new and still sealed.



Ripped out the guts within 10 minutes of delivery, note how clean it is!

Yep. As MoonTar mentioned, they had some at Llamma.com It was approximately 32$ shipped to my door. Not a bad deal. I think I'm about 100$ into the project this far.

The only way I know is to have the drive board connected.

Also, is the "sawed-off" top method one that is well known on the Internet, or is this just your doing? Never seen it before.

If you want to save a few bucks on a X3 IR(if you don't already have it) you can build your own XERC2. Just go to http://diy.sickmods.net and look for all the info.

I designed a small breakout board PCB for it and sent it to the manufacturer. I'll probably have it soon. The XERC2 looks great and really flexible.

Is your 750GB drive IDE? If yes where did you find it? If not, which SATA-IDE converter are you using?

I currently have a 250GB IDE drive but I would like to change for a 750GB or 1TB.

Thanks, Both drives are IDE. I Bought them several years back when IDE drives were still on the market. Look for a segate barracuda 750GB in IDE form. They are still out there, but it you may have to buy used. They lock too.

Hmm... I don't know what you mean by sawed-off top method, but likely my method was the conventional way of slimming the xbox down. But I did use this guide for reference: http://www.isodownload.org/xbox360/h...box-guide.html. Hopefully that helps!

Also, can someone chime in if these wires were correctly soldered according to the below schematics? I'm no electrical engineer by any means. But it looks good to me... Should have used the multimeter prior to wiring everything up :(. I had assumed the end pins were ground so i marked them w/ blue tape.

Assuming the diagram is right and you found the correct orientation for the plug, it looks correct. I would touch up the solder joints just to be sure they won't come apart over time. You don't need much. A good connection will have even solder flow between the wires and the surface will have a thin layer on it that lets the shape of the wire strands show through. I also would say to maybe shorten the connected wires up a bit once you verify this is working just to tidy things up and save space. I also recommend using liquid electrical tape if you do shorten the wires up. It will stay longer than the regular stuff in small spaces. This is based on my experiences and I have plenty.

Sonicdude10, I will touch up the solder and use electrical tape. But it was just a test run. I do appreciate your analysis of the picture :) That makes 2 of us fairly certain the connections were correct.

I'm wondering if the ground wires are actually the wires on the very bottom of the picture instead of topmost ones...

Also can anyone clarify on this? Also maybe clarify if any of the 4 solder joints on the eject button ALL work? I would test but the motherboard is toast.

You might've place the plug upside down?
