Snes ERROR: FAT INIT FAILED: 50

    Hello,

I have been having this issue with my super everdrive lately, whenever I try to select a game from the SD card sometimes I get the message "ERROR: FAT INIT FAILED: 50"

after playing around formatting SD Cards with no success I decided to have a look at the circuit board to see if there was any residual solder after noticing nothing I put the super everdrive into the Snes without a shell and still got the error message again.
Then for some reason I decided to put a little pressure on the back of the circuit board before I choose select game and the SD card worked. Could this be a fault with the super everdrive board itself as I have tried it with 2 different snes consoles or does anyone know any solutions for this?

    Thanks,

Maybe an issue with the SD card slot. Pressure may allow the pins to contact the SD card better. Just a thought. Do you have another SD card? If so maybe it will make contact better.

sorry i forgot to mention i tried different sd cards "silicon powers transflash and x2 Sandisk micro sd cards with 2 different extenders same result" the pressure i put on the board is on both corners of the board nowhere near the card reader and it works also if i push the board forward it seems to work as well, could it be the connection between the snes and the everdrive? would that cause the SD card error message?

    :-(

I had the same error recently when using an RS-MMC card. Never had a problem with my SD card, then had this with RS-MMC. I took it out, re-seated the card and now it magically seems to be working fine. I checked the soldering around the slot and it looks fine so I doubt that would be the problem.

I think that maybe my RS-MMC doesn't perfectly fit the slot as well as my SD card does, so a pin or two not contacting properly may be the problem. I imagine that this same problem could happen with certain manufacturers that just happen to use a very slightly different plastic casing from the "standard" SD casing - if there is such a thing.

I have this exact same problem and every time it happens, I just reset my Super Nintendo, and the problem goes away....I don't like to encounter this problem and it happens every time I boot up the Super Everdrive....

edit..I just tried a different sd card. I tried a 2GB Sandisk Micro SD, and used the SD adapter. Now the problem is gone. The Super Everdrive just doesn't like the 2GB Elite Pro SD card I have.
