Attn Changes to the marketplace policy

    Changes are:

XBOX 360 modded to dev kernel is ok to sell
PS2 is no longer a current gen system and can be sold in any way or form
DS is no longer a current gen system and can be sold with flash carts or whatever (however DSI and 3DS are still current gen and forbidden)
    PSP no restrictions
PS3 no restrictions on firmware mods, however hard drive must be empty when sold.

The whole marketplace rules need to be updated again and someone needs to be enforcing them a little more. In my opinion of course...

They were updated today? Do you have additional suggestions?

My apologies, I didn't notice the edit until you pointed it out. I would like to see the rules enforced a little more though.
(Off-topic - I am still interested in the items from our previous conversation)

Something I wanted to mention since Assembler asked for suggestions. Not really a rule I guess just a clarification. I'm planning on selling an Xbox 360 Dev kit soon and I've long known about the rule to donate, but now that I look I can't seem to find a place of where I should donate. It's not mentioned on the page where the Xbox rule is outlined. I couldn't find it on the main page. Hopefully I'm not blind and it's some where obvious just thought I would mention it.

EDIT: Ok I found it I checked Assemblers profile and it's listed as being a part of his signature. Although I don't actually see it in his signature. Maybe you can add a button somewhere more prominent?

If you find something violating the rules. By all means there is a report to mod button, use it. We try to do the best we can with the amount of time we have to work with.

I am not knocking the work of the mods at all but I feel the punishments for NOT following the rules should be a little harder. People pretty much do as they please IMO as they know the punishment will be minor if any!

I'm not trying to contest the rule additions you made, Assembler, but why must the PS3 hard drive be empty? Is this for non-modified retail units too? Just curious on it, is all. Everything else makes complete sense. :)

I'd imagine it has something to do with personal information being stored on the drives no?

    Just a guess maybe.

If you're silly enough to sell a console with personal information on it, I'd say you deserve whatever is comin' to ya. :P

I mean, there's not really a way for moderators to check if the drive is empty...

I don't recall anybody cracking the PS3 file system to read/write files on other devices. Aren't they encrypted or something?

Yeah think so. Or else there'd be a way to transfer stuff from a dead PS3 to another working one's HDD by now, wouldn't you think?

He's talking about games I'm sure. Since that would be considered piracy to sell a ps3 with pre-installed games.

What superspeed said, but especially pre-release or unreleased games. Since it's still a modern system developers might go bat shit crazy of betas getting leaked for a modern console. Apparently something similar has happened before on the site and Assembler almost got into a bunch of trouble.
