    Genesis Megadrive 1 & 2 PCB sockets

Hi guys, I've been searching eBay and I can't seem to find them. The reason I want them is simple:

-I want to mod my MegaDrive 1 to have stereo output, so if I fit a MD2 socket I could use the same RGB / AV cables I use for the MD2

-Also, I want to mod my Master System 2 to have RGB / Composite / Audio output via a DIN connector, the same as MD1. Since it only outputs mono, my cables for MD1 would be perfect for the modded Master system 2.

Any of you know of a place where I can buy them? This seems to be pretty difficult. I'm also considering to drop it and use more common connections with enough pins but it would be really neat if I could reuse my cables.

Also, if you have any MD2 or MD1 broken and beyond repair and would like to part it, we can talk about buying them to reuse the connectors.

I bought a lot of 6 off ebay recently. Search for 9 pin mini-din. Sorry can't provide link, am on phone. Just look at the pin layout to make sure you get the right ones

I lost my mind trying to find the right type of 8 pin DIN for a master system 2 mod, my advice is don't bother lol I ended up making a custom cable from an old scart cable with an 8 pin mini din, cheap and easy to find with plenty of pins. I(f you manage to find a 9 pin mini din for your megadrive 1 mod, I would reccomend opting for an 8 pin mini din for the master system and modifying the end of your scart cable. Or even just buy two 9 pin mini dins and use the same cable for everything!
Or alternatively take the original socket off the megadrive 1 and wodge it in the master system

Yes, I thought about desoldering the MD1 one and using it on the MS2 as a good solution, then I had just to find a 9 pin mini DIN. Another take would be to get a 8 pin DIN with the C shape instead of U and modifying the cable.

Pretty hard to get those U shaped DINs...

Got them, thanks a lot buddy. I'm going to use these for modding both the Master System 2 (I'll out the same audio to both pins, since the console only outputs mono) and the MegaDrive 1, taking the stereo which goes through the slider amplifier.

This way any AV / SCART cable for the MD2 will work. Or so I hope.

MD1 is DIN and MD2 is mini-DIN. Digi-Key in the US has the correct models but finding the exact size/shape of the solder side of things to fit in the board is another story. If you simply want to have it mount to the case that is a lot easier.

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.

I have no problem with that, since I have access to boards with the shape (and solder points) of those connectors and plan to mount them as some sort of daughterboard.
