We should make it a rule. (^_^); No VGA items allowed for sale on the forums. If you want to sell it, smash the case and take the item out, or more simply, don't throw your money away to some useless non-video game authority.

Only people making money are vga.
Silly question, but if we're assuming a perfectly factory-sealed cartridge is inside the acrylic case (as in the plastic completely and perfectly covers the box) then isn't the terrarium effect moot?
My real question is how they can say uncirculated carts could ever get anything below a near-perfect score. The grading is arbitrary and it makes the whole thing a laughing stock.

Do you know what's so bloody funny. I've bought thousands of sealed games in my time and there are some that are NOT perfect inside while the case on the outside is. I've had factory sealed disc games with mold on the CD. I've had cartridge based games with mold on the instruction books and cartridge sticker. I've even had one game with a dead cartridge inside.
The whole factory fresh rating is a load of shit because these idiots have no idea what the actual condition of the item is inside. Basically they're only grading a bloody box. You could put a shit in a box at the factory and these idiots would still grade it as perfect.
I'm not joking when I say I could do the exact or better job at grading as VGA. Do I have any special qualifications? Nope. What I do have is 25 years of collecting experience and a high level of quality. In fact, there are many members here how could do a better job.
lol wtf...
I wonder if there are any Neo Geo VGA graded games, they´d surely cost a fortune xD

So, how much do I have to pay them to get a grade 99 or grade 100? On EBay a VGA 100 Gyromite would be worth, what, at least a million. Funny how the score takes presedence over the actual item. By their system, a Gyromite 100 would be rarer (and intrinsicly more valuable) than any one-of-a-kind demo on development hardware.
The whole thing's asinine. You're completely right: they're grading a box, not the game. In actual fact it really isn't game collecting at all; the game and all its manuals and documentation are completely discounted. When you're talking certain RPGs the maps, etc. that came with the game can be rarer than the thing itself.
After all, nobody in their right mind could ever afford to compare two VGA graded identical boxes, so really how can we tell what the difference would be?
What seems weird to me is selling a current game like the Skyward Sword on the last page for more than it's worth just because it's VGA graded...I mean, you can just go to any store and buy it brand new. Even if it was Sonic 1 or something it'd be more understandable, since it's a lot less likely to find one brand new. BTW, what about games that were never sealed, PAL SNES for example?
We should all start to regularly send question to seller weither they could remove the game from the plastic thingie if you buy because you really want to shell out the cash he want for it:p I 'm starting right away haha!

so why dont you do it? youre right in saying theyre no more qualified than you (proboably, i actually have no idea who the people behind VGA are?), however they are actually doing it and they are doing a great job advertising their buisness too, its world known and recognised amongst collectors, what are your plans to topple that?
im not agreeing with their buisness, i think its overkill to even have such a service but like somone else said, our generations are taking over the world and are coming into all the money which means our pop culture items are becoming collectibles, this is whats really driving prices up.
VGA just found an untapped market and exploited it (i know for a fact several collectors who had their collectibles graded without a thought of ripping it on ebay).
its here to stay like it or not.

If you're willing to pay $25 + shipping from Japan to the US and back for that, go ahead![]()

US dollars are worth shit to me in Japan. It's so weak it's not even a dent in my wallet. To give you an idea, 25USD at the moment is 1980 yen. I spent 1300 yen yesterday for my lunch. So yep, I'd pay 30USD (shipping in) just to take the piss out of these idiots and make a video of it for YouTube. I actually do have a few very common factory sealed Saturn games but I'd only send them if they'd give one of their stupid high scores for something there's plenty of. I think I'll send them a mail with a photo and see what they say.
