Disagree, so long as you check completed auctions.

I have noticed the Orange box for 360 has gone up in price at Gamestops in USA. Also King Kong for 360 unsure why

I asked to a thrift store owner how come there is a retro gaming aisle now and before like two years ago there was nothing, he told me that it is "the new business and that's where you make the money"...

I noticed the same thing State side. I walked around the thrift store and could not find any video games. Once we got to check out, they had all of them behind the counter with high prices on everything.

That and Portal 2 increased demand for it. Since like about a month before Portal 2 came out we've barely been able to keep it in stock.

Almost no one does that. Plus, prices fluctuate wildly and they only display 30 days data.

Valve games are best played on a PC. The 360 version of HL2, for example, looks like crap compared to the PC version on max settings. That said, I also own the 360 version (mainly because I was without a PC for some time).

Sorry for the off-topic-ness of this post.

As a long time eBay Seller I must say that there have always been 4 categories for pricing things for me and there prices drop one to the next,

In Store Price (Like a used game store)
    eBay/Amazon
    Craiglist
    Thrift Store

I must say the 2 biggest suprises to me are how eBay prices havnt effected In store prices that much. They still charge top dollar, sometimes double or more. I mean I agree that eBay isnt a good place to price somethings ultimate value but at the sametime youd think that it would have some bearing on it. The second thing that suprised me was at how little downloadable versions of retro games effected there true cartridge/disc counterparts. I mean I love having the real thing as much as the next guy but theres no way Id pay In Store or eBay prices for Chrono Trigger when I can download it for $10.

I was checking some Pokémon prices and these people are mad.
eBay is surreal right now. It's just not right to buy at these prices.
Play Asia's prices, for example, didn't rose that much.

I've been scraping eBay and Yahoo! auction ending info for a while, sorting by game and various condition levels. It's valuable data but also dangerous data to give away.

My guess is the trustfund hipsters have discovered retro gaming

After destroying all the was good and awesome about indie music and rare films they are getting on retro-gaming because well they already ruined pixels for everybody

These idiots can pay $1000 for a game and then throw it away, just to say "I have PDS, not that you heard of it"

I'm interested, how did hipsters destroy what was good about rare films and indie music? Sounds like you're just looking for a target group to blame it on.
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

It's all conspiracy! is not that these days wearing vintage clothes or watching Eraserhead gets you instantly branded as a hipster, or that soon playing old games will do the same

Have you ever seen a hipster? these assholes are a cultural dead-end, half of them were watching hannah montana a few years and yet got the nerve to pose as connoisseurs. They dont create shit they just appropriate ideas from other groups and then keep the original creators away from the new inner circle. Some of these assholes are actually making money this way, so even less motivation to share credit with you know, the people from which they stole it...

And dont get me started on counter-cultural hipsters! how can they talk about evil corporatism while paying $700 for a raggity-ass "designer jeans"? I just hope Naomi Klein goes apeshit and cuts one of these assholes in half...

Read the piece on Adbusters, they did a good job exposing these assholes 4 years ago.

My point is that HL 2 is a good old game regardless of what machine you play it on ! Gameplay is much better then graphics anyday
