That is what it translates to, the Germans should have given it a proper German name with at least one umlaut, they could have called it Unwetterblähung which translates directly into Storm Wind....

    Blähung = flatulation :D

I think the name is great, but you're right - its missing an Umlaut.
    How about

    Süßholzraspler (term for romantic playboy)
    Milchstraßenknüppler (milky way brawler)
    or
Rächer des vergessenen Raumgleiterkönigs (avenger of the forgotten king of spaceships)
    Eh?;)
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

I'm a very busy guy so it will have to wait until this weekend or next week some time. The last episode of Retro Core I uploaded was actually made a month or so ago. Not to mention the new Virtua Fighter 5 Final Tuned just came out and I'm getting in to Batman Archam City (sp?) too. Oh, and I'm doing the full Knight Rider (80's one, not the modern crap) marathon on HuLu too.

I'm getting old mate. Well, not that old but at 36 years old I would rather watch TV since it takes no effort :)

That was "HARD" was it? Still looks like a blindfolded monkey on acid with one hand could complete the first level. I can see it is a tradtional shooter but the traditional shooters did require more skill then that. Granted it seems to be better then every other DC homebrew shooter out there but it is a bit like beating a bunch of joggers driving a Toyota Prius.

Still it is only a beta, they could make it harder and Sega still could announce the Dreamcast 2 at the end of E3...

Eh, reminds me of a classic Tecno Soft shooter. I can't complain.

I just hope I can still pre-order an LE in 4 weeks.

Hahahah, I bet if it was a hellishly hard shooter like CAVE or oldschool Thunder Force, you'd be no less dissatisfied :P

You say it looks better than the other homebrew shooters out there and I agree - but it's a classic console shooter, not an arcade shooter, so a rather doable difficulty is not really surprising. Try playing Fast Striker on Maniac or Omake if you want a challenging homebrew shooter on Dreamcast - it's quite hard, I don't think you mastered it yet, very few people did or even tried (on Omake anyway).

I'm not sure I'd call Thunder Force games hard per se. Or really anything made by Tecno Soft. Well, final boss of Hyper Duel was pretty hard. That's about it though.

I fired up Thunderforce IV and III just to see how hard these games are and yep, I can count a lot more bullets and enemies that don't clump together in a easy to shoot line then Sturmwind does.

Well I can tell you it is harder than Thunder Force III for sure. I can complete Thunder Force III on Mania without losing a life! It does help that I played it to death as a kid though.

Thanks for bringing this thread back from the dead -- hadn't seen it the first time around! Sturmwind looks like a great game

Got around to buying it 2 weeks ago after it finally looked like there would be an actual release this time - apparently my copy has shipped.
Definitely looking forward to this. I wonder what differences, if any, there are between the final build and the review copy build?
"Really, the only possible use I could see for the Gamecube handle is for a hipster to wear an 'ironic' business suit and walk around the business district of a major city holding it like a briefcase to confuse 'the man'."

It's a pretty amazing game, I had the opportunity to review a very near final build and I loved it. Reminds me a lot of Gradius V, Axelay and of course Thunder Force. You can read my review here.

Ahahahah, I'm pretty much there too mate x) I got into Jamma recently, love the fact that you don't need hours to learn how to play the game, update a firmware and watch hours of cut scenes ;) though takes a while to setup the rig...
