Xbox Softmod Exploit just restarts game

so my console was already softmodded, and as i was playing a game, i decided just for the heck of hit to sign into live. i have no fucking idea why i decided to do that lol, but anyways it said make new account so i did and xbox live updated it said and then it went back to the stock dash board and after i restart it, it goes straight to stock.

so i popped in the gamesave and everytime i click checkpoints to go to the softmod installer, it just restarts the game

my console screwed now?

Live has been offline for years, why the hell would you do that? Hotswap your drive and rebuild the C partition and replace the stock dash with UnleashX

how do i hotswap the drive when my comp doesnt have an ide port? or can i not?

Everything except the impulse to try using XBox live with a softmod at least.

lol, curiosity about this brings me closer to considering a chipped Xbox. Let's just hope there's no Japanese-related issues (GC) or normally inaccessible minor game content (PS2). :)

Good point. The last X2 BIOS (and probably others) does offer LIVE blocking. You can hit that button all you want but nothing bad will happen.

Cheapest source I can find these days. Never used that chip myself but it isn't like the design changes much between budget chips.

Try burning a copy of AID (horrible disc, but...) and install unleashX Softmod and see if that brings back the custom dash...
Even though your custom dash has gone walk abouts, the softmod might still be there and able to boot backups. I know when I dual booted my custom dash with the original backups could still be launched.

I'd imagine that if he can get the thing to boot games still and not FRAG it can boot something now that you mention it. Personally I've used Slayer's X boot disc to run an FTP server but frankly I'm not remotely sure what to do from there. At the very least the XBox isn't entirely screwed as per softmod potential. Maybe the save file was corrupted at some point or is missing files?

thats what i thought so i deleted all saves, downloaded new ones and still did what it was doing

ill give that a try. it boots into softmod mode or whatever when it restarts. like when i choose checkpoints the light goes prange but it restarts he game and just keeps doing that. but ill try AID. i can burn it to a dvd+r right? cuz thats all i have lol

I'm guessing the XBOX is stuck at "xboxlivedash.xbe" instead or the normal one. It's also possible he could format the C Partition with AID and reinstall the softmod that way, but if it's not possible booting backups then he would just have to use another exploit. Cause doesn't the exploit launch an .xbe? It's possibly just missing some files like you said.

EDIT: Holyshit I think I know what's happening, it's possible that the settings file for unleashX is confused, if you're able to use AID you can restore defaults..

gave me the disc may be dirty or damaged and make sure its an xbox game.

are there special settings to burn the game to?

im using DVD+r (non duel layer)

Edit: i got this all working. i unplugged my hdd then re-plugged it back in, causing me to reset the xbox's clock and whatever else, then loaded sid 2.0, then installed evox and upgraded to 5.11
