Thread: The FMV player

    The FMV player

I had a friend over and was showing off the EverDrive MD, and I remember there being a FMV player, but I couldn't get it to work with the latest OS v33..

    Does it no longer function?

    Yea.. Like the modules here..

With them and the video files, it doesn't work.. I don't even have the modules link to begin with, but attempting to load the player via the rom selection causes failure too.

This is what it does when I try to use it.

It would be because KRIKzz has changed something in the firmware which does not like it.

You will have to wait for him to post, because it is his work :)

use a classic sdcard (max 2giga).
    format it with everdriveMD (fat16)
put the files on sd and enjoy...

My SD card is a regular SD card. Not an SDHC. FAT16 and was formatted by the Everdrive. Still didn't work.
I even tried the card that came with my everdrive.

Its not the card. Its the firmware. KRIKzz changed something in the code. He will have to release an updated version of the player for you.

old moduless supports only fat16 and 2gb max size sd cards, but sometimes they may not work even with fat16 (old formatting problem). also they may not work with some firmware versions. honestly i not care alot about those old modules (:

Kinda sucks, because some of the modules were cool to use.

The newest version of the os has the modules option removed from the toolbox. Try pushing A+B+C together on startup (this loads a hidden backup copy of os v14.) Install the video player module (if you have not already), run it, select the video you want to play, and enjoy! I hope this works for you.

I reported the problems with the player code to KRIKzz quite some time back... back when the EverdriveMD first came out and I bought one directly. The player code loads directly from the SD card into arrays in ram, but at least one of the arrays (the palette, from my recollections) is too small, so it overwrites ram. So depending on what is after the array in ram, the player may work fine, may show problems, or may blow up completely.

That explains my lack of getting that FMV player to work...
