    Any RC fans around here?

Just picked up a Dumas Akula RC sub for a steal- $75. Guy says it'll cost me a fortune to get the battery and charger for it. Well, good thing I've got both of those.

Planning to do a static dive upgrade to it, but I'm not sure if I'd like to go with a bladder and pump, or a piston style ballast. Any suggestions?

Also, general talk about RC- boats, planes helicopters, cars, gas and electric. Love to see what people have.

I have an RC racer which is a professional RC car which is made to be raced, but I lost interest in it quite quickly for some reason... I should probably sell it it's just getting dusty :(

I used to have 2 nitro gas cars. Both touring. One of them got stolen, and the other I sold.

    1x - Kyosho FW-05T
1x - Colt (unknown model, but it was old and it used the belt system)

my brother is REALLY into RCs.

each custom built for different classes and types.

The Toyota AE86 is his drifter (obviously)

(check out that launch gamecube box on the left under the Killzone 2 poster, lol)

His RC stuff came in handy working on my airsoft stuff (a lot of similar parts. Tokyo Marui who created the automatic electric airsoft gun was also an RC car company, and they set the industry standard for airsoft)

I find it fun, but yes, if you're into it the costs really can rack up.
I enjoy it because it's almost like a video game, but I'm outside and not in front of a TV (computer). It's also fun to go to conventions and clubs to see what others have done. Some of the people I've seen are spending insane cash on things. Scale wars with real ship damage (through airsoft guns mounted on ships) can be the best to watch.

I used to play around with RC cars when I was a kid. My dad and I used to race them around the house and up and down the street. It's also fun to confuse pets with them. I've never had a gas powered model, though. I had an RC hovercraft at one point; that thing was pretty cool.

Me and my cousin used to race them up and down the street. The nitro ones are a little annoying sometimes to start. They also get very hot, slimy from the unburnt oil in the exhaust system and costly.

I remember making a neon system for mine. I also had the Venom Fail Safe system in it with the Futaba radio system and drift wheels all in a Mazda RX7 body. I used to have a photo of it, but I cant find it :(

I use to have one. A Tamiya Mobil 1 Honda NSX JGTC car with 3 extra batteries.

But as soon as the only two racetracks around here were destroyed, i sold it.

I'm more into LC's actually. Resistors are too boring for me.

Nitro's are becoming less and less popular. New Brushless motors with LIPO batteries don't have all the issues they do and are out performing them all over.

I once bought a Lego RC car for some ungodly price. It was better than I expected though- held up really well, tore up turf and had 3 speed modes (gear shifting, sort of). That was a brushless motor and I had no complaints.

Nitro cars don't make any sense- the fuel is really expensive.

I had the Grasshopper by Tamiya when i was 5-6 years old. Think i had this until i was about 10.

Myself and my Dad then took it aparent and built the Figher Buggy RX kit

    (not my pics)

I still have this today, sadly not used it for many many years now. It needs a new speed controller but apart from that i believe its in perfect shape.

I really should get it going again, just no where to really use it apart from the local park.

    PLEASE DON'T HOTLINK!
    Haha.

Oh, I just nearly busted the sub I bought. ran it a tad too deep in a pool, and had to bribe a kid to go grab it for me. Cost me $2 for him to grab it just because I didn't have the proper attire. Thought I burnt the radio receiver, but a day in rice got it running again.

I used to fly RC planes as a child/teenager, now I fly them once a year if lucky.

My dad is a big RC plane enthusiast (has been into it for almost 40 years), won lots of national and regional (South American) championships, specially in the "scale" category which is about how good is your scale replica of an actual plane. Most of the time he participated with his own-crafted Stearman (Boeing) Model 75 scale replica, took him about 5 years to build (and it nearly got destroyed a couple of times), and he ended up selling it last year. Now he flies small electric RC planes whenever he has the time, and the big-fueled ones every now and then.

He used to have an impressive collection of planes, including a couple of seaplanes.

    Here's a picture of a Stearman Model 75 biplane:

We used to do some cool stuff on the planes with my dad, we mostly did mechanism experiments on my trainer plane, and ended up adding a wireless camera in the cockpit, a small short range rocket launcher, and a mechanism that dropped a Playmobil toy with a hand-made parachute.

That one is real :P , I do not have a picture of my dad's scale replica at the moment, but it looked practically like that one! It was some really hard work, he spent countless hours during weekends for about 5 years to get it done from scratch.

I have a few cars, (RC10GT, RC10T2, Losi XXT, RC18MT, and a few others) and a couple helicopters. I really like the helis until I do something stupid and break something. It is almost always at least $50 no matter what breaks. Still super fun to me though, I will get some pictures up on here later on.

I use to race rc at nearly a 'pro' level.

I had a few weekends last summer that were $700+ between tires/gas/hotel/entry/etc...
